There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

Guys maybe the number one obstacle to organizing here in Minneapolis is the unfounded fear that if you get involved, DHS will put you on a list and assassinate you. It leads people to avoid organizing or act in ways that are completely detrimental to organizing. Please please do not spread that fear

Of all the reasons people didn't vote for Biden, the Gaza genocide was probably the most consequential, morally serious and well considered. It's suspicious to me when people think that's a silly reason but "his age" or whatever is a serious one.

Mike Lawler, freaked out about his impending election, resorts to high-minded New York Times opinion page bullshit that proposes “reasonable compromises”: democratic cities should end their sanctuary laws to collaborate with ICE while ICE should vaguely “reassess its strategies”

Trump and Miller's death squads shot another person today. Federal agents have now shot and wounded at least 9 people, executed 5 more, and caused 32 to die in their concentration camps. Those are minimum numbers.

our politics is in a state of very rapid change in recent months and especially these last few weeks. small differences in statement dates that may not have felt important in past periods matter more than ever today. confusion benefits the regime. let's strive to not help them oppress us
I know everyone is sharing this, and it is bad, but, let's also be clear, this is not a new statement from Homan. This was from January 15: www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump...
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

There's something that is so Congress-brained that they're going to claim a win on a law that says ICE has to follow the law, a thing which I am sure they already had to do

The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced the Democrats have to push their hand immediately. The parallels with the delays and subsequent failures after January 6th are blaring warning signs about what will happen if they don’t go after the issues with ICE and CBP at the root RIGHT NOW.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

statistically speaking (and based off the articles) it is a near certainty that thousands of people currently patrolling the streets in Minnesota are people who did not immediately believe the warnings of the left 10 years ago. I see very little criticism of *them* on here
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

The biggest challenge to Minnesota's effort to halt "Operation Metro Surge" is a law passed during the Clinton administration which strips jurisdiction from federal judges to "enjoin or restrain the operation" of laws relating to immigration arrests, detention, and removal.
Judge Menendez notes that the proceedings will delve into the legal questions more than the evidentiary record.
