publicly rejecting it, on every social media account you have, and amplifying every other rejection, is also signaling. they’re a weak regime, getting weaker, in a mix of false bravado and panic and fear, and who they fear is us. they should.
The president is also signalling to his followers in and out of government what the party line on this horrific murder will be. That it's transparently false is almost beside the point. Indeed, publicly adopting the falsehood will fast become a loyalty test.
That he chooses the "me or your lying eyes?" approach, in the full knowledge that there are multiple videos out there, is a striking commentary on the nature of propaganda in the modern information environment.

1. ICE will kill you.

2. Trumpists will lie to justify it.

3. Because they are all thug trash.

AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long time—that it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

Nobody wants to go there. Nobody wants to perform there. Grenell and Trump decided to make the Kennedy Center all about Grenell and Trump. Many artists and attendees have zero interest in that. You can sue, you can cry, but you can’t force people to like you.

Republicans were very clear during the election that this is what they believed, & that this was what they would act upon when in office. Editors & tastemakers discounted it all, because it was ridiculous. Everything was fine. No one would blow everything up for the sake of delusion. Now here we are
According to the White House, this is the "true" timeline of January 6th.

Yup. There's been an incredible case of amnesia.
I know this feels impossible now, but I swear, on January 6 itself, there was a pretty broad bipartisan consensus that storming the Capitol to find and kill lawmakers was bad, and that Trump was responsible for inciting his followers to try it

Former Capitol Police Officer: We're in a very dangerous place. The Trump administration has replaced the rule of law, both in our domestic policy and our foreign policy, with the idea that the ends justify the means. That's incredibly troubling, especially when it goes against our Constitution.
