Multnomah Country, Oregon, has posted warnings to residents that ICE agents are impersonating utility workers.

You read that right. ICE is now impersonating utility workers in order to gain access to people's homes and businesses without a warrant.

the number one factor in deterence isn't the severity of consequences, its speed of them

any school teacher will tell you if you can get graffiti covered up/taken down in the first 24 hours people stop doing it

Screaming at every ICE agent you see and calling them murdering Nazi scum is praxis.

Troop retention is essential for any occupying force. Burnout is a constant risk. Even Nazis can experience moral injury.
I've seen refugee aid efforts defeat multi-year occupations by regional / national police forces who deployed 30x the amount of resources. Hell I've been part of that.

It is *very* possible.

ICE's budget has a limit.
Make them use it.

ICE's morale has a limit.
Make them lose it.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

Amazing to live in a country where every day you can watch Republicans gin up issue salience out of nothing but attitude and 4chan posts and a sizeable chunk of people think Democrats' only power is to vote yes or no on bills placed in front of them

in the military there's a cliche for this: what you walk past, you accept as standard

if the only 535 Americans who can reject a particular act by impeaching the president don't bother to, they're walking past it, and that's the same as saying it's OK with them
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

Republicans voted over 70 times (!) to repeal Obamacare even though they knew they didn’t have the numbers, but it pleased the base, kept them energized, and showed that the party is still fighting despite being in the minority.

Porn and erotica are important and societally valuable forms of speech, and the defense of them, in the face of state and church attempts at repression, is a necessary political act.

Per what I read, the thesis of his first book - the "art" of his dealmaking - is that once you reach an agreement with the other party it's time to start cheating and stealing and breaking the deal, so they'll come back to the negotiating table and start over from what had been the middle ground.

This is trash from John Locke and Civitas, but it's also _bad_ trash. Like, the right and believable headline is "NC Democrats flee party." Because what's happening is a surge in Unaffiliated voters at the (apparent) cost of Democrat voters. www.carolinajournal.com/republicans-...
Republicans overtake Democrats on NC voter rolls
For the first time in state history, registered Republicans now outnumber registered Democrats in North Carolina, according to the most recent voter registration snapshot based on data from the NCSBE.

Can't help but feel like this is one of the reasons why the Constitution says If a dude in office does an insurrection, don't let that motherfucker hold office again
