Argentina, 1978:

“The armed men who roved the city were at once secretive — driving cars without license plates and obscuring their faces with women's stockings — and brazen, abducting people off the street in broad daylight… daring bystanders:
Acknowledge you've noticed us, see what happens.”

Warrantless searches sparked the American Revolution. In the 1760s, Britain made complaints similar to this about policing American merchants & resorted to issuing blanket "writs of assistance" to customs officers to enter ships, businesses, and homes without a specific warrant or even any evidence.
Rep. Buddy Carter: "Some of the demands that the Democrats have put forth, we're not gonna be able to obtain that. We can't have a warrant every time."

Wow: Amnesty International official says they were sharing info with the Biden-Harris admin as soon as October 2023 that there wasn't even a "semblance" of Israel following international law.

They kept trying again and again — soon declaring Israel was committing genocide. Admin kept ignoring them.
"We see [Israeli] attacks still occurring. But we also see complete impunity."

Amnesty International USA’s Amanda Klasing tells @premthakker.bsky.social the organization warned the White House in 2023 about Israel’s non-adherence to international humanitarian law.

At some point very soon, we are going to have very uncomfortable conversations about the fact that we aren't really a public university anymore, but rather a de facto private nonprofit organization in which our minority shareholder enjoys near-total regulatory & decision-making control.
We're often told that we should "run the university more like a business." As always, I ask which Fortune 500 corporation allows its 4th-largest shareholder to have ~100% control over decision-making, investments, & everything else. You'd be laughed out of the fancy board room for expecting this.

“It shows that there is in fact an Epstein class, which not only believes in their own personal impunity, but seeks to protect their fellow travelers as well. And that ultimately lines up with a political and economic vision that favors corporate domination over the public interest.”

And yet, every day, our most prominent Democratic politicians, scholars, public intellectuals, universities & university leaders, & other civil society organizations continue to use his platform as their primary social media outlet. One cannot help but notice this & draw conclusions.
The world's richest man is broadcasting eliminationist rhetoric about a tiny, vulnerable minority, and virtually no one is going to treat it as a scandal. It's just normal now.

This antisemitic code word (bsky.app/profile/mcop...) doesn't appear anywhere in the actual article, so this appears to have been an editorial decision. If I were the editors of a journal whose direct ancestor was the "Journal of Race Development," I would make other readily available choices 🤷‍♂️
I hate that we have to now pretend that "Globalists" are an actual thing. Absolutely terrible article in Foreign Affairs btw.
