WA voter turnout generally was incredibly low

you can have nice things if you just bother to show up

hell, you don't even need to show up, this is a mail in ballot state, you just have to walk your ass to the post box
Washington’s 2025 voter turnout tracks among lowest on record
King County expecting about 45% participation despite fewer than 20% of voters having returned ballots so far.

I think @gramadre62.bsky.social may be a MAGA operative. They said there’s no circumstance or timeframe under which congress should reopen and the legislative branch should remain shut down throughout trump’s entire term. I said that would make him a king, response was “he’s already a king in deeds”

We're debating on the government funding package right now and every single Republican voted against a Democratic amendment to pass a clean, one-year extension of the ACA tax credits.

Republicans just don't care about your health care.

Remember how the Biden/Harris administration had those enhanced child tax credits which cut child poverty in half? The repubs ended them. Harris and a dem majority would’ve extended them. 1 in 8 ppl in the US receive SNAP. 1 in 4 are children. We’ve heard these stats with Trump holding back payments

I know this is frowned upon to say out loud sometimes but anyone who bashes or calls for a primary against Lauren Underwood, one of the most effective legislators in Congress & 1 of the people in charge of recruiting House candidates to win the House back in 2026, is too stupid to have an opinion.

“Why would a prominent venture capitalist [Peter Thiel ally Marc Andreessen] bristle at a pope calling for basic ethics? Because Pope Leo XIV may be the one authority on earth that Big Tech cannot control.” 1/
A tech billionaire mocked Pope Leo XIV’s call for ethical AI.

The post was deleted — but not before exposing Silicon Valley’s deeper discomfort: a pope they can’t buy or bully.

It also revealed something older: the Valley’s original sin — the desire to be God.
Tech Billionaire Mocks Pope Leo’s AI Warning — and Reveals Silicon Valley’s Original Sin
A billionaire tech guru openly mocked Leo's call for moral AI — and quickly backtracked after backlash. It’s a telling collision of Silicon Valley hubris with a pope they cannot buy, bully, or ignore.

UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.
