In all honesty, it’s likely to be a very rough path for years to come. Less so if voters ensure there’s a flip in power in the legislative branch next yr. The criminal in chief has a deadlock on the executive, judicial, and currently, legislative as well. Republicans have wholly abdicated their duty

I reached out to senators 2x the past week to suggest they hold out longer in the standoff. Did I *know* they should? Absolutely not. Was I angry hunger was a top priority to them? Absolutely not. I’m still conflicted but also relieved if the battle resumes in 8-12 wks w/o SNAP (food aid) at stake.

It will not break the curse; rather it will spread the curse. This is a sweet curse to catch, though.

This was a published plan for Trump in Project 2025, circulated widely last year. 611,000+ are dead so far, 2/3 of them children. 60,000+ people are dying monthly. It will be millions in a couple of years at this rate. Having this information and not voting to stop it is a moral failing.

The statistics I’m looking at and just shared tell a story, and it damn sure isn’t “how do we improve Black voters’ voting behavior?”

Black voters? Well they don’t seem to have the moral failing of hitting the voting booth then NOT voting against the death and destruction of tens of millions in 4 years’ time. So Black voters’ voting behavior is not much of a problem to address, is it?

How come a huge majority of Black voters were motivated when they got to the polls to vote Dem but a majority of vvhite voters (a large majority of vvhite men) weren’t?

@billhayden65.bsky.social because vvhite people, especially vvhite men, are quite comfortable with MAGA rule? I think that’s a lot of it. Some are definitely not “enthused” to pull out all the stops to avoid it.

Devastating consequences indeed, definitely due to inaction. With regard to the inaction of voters, they had information from P2025 - its position on Gaza and protesters, on USAID on which millions of lives depend, on cuts to MC, SS, SNAP, on attacking immigrants and more, and chose what was chosen

It is stressing me out watching them in that it does not bode well for the future. Yet as you said, the current level of rage is their realizing that they’ve enabled people to take office who will definitely harm them personally.

WA voter turnout generally was incredibly low
you can have nice things if you just bother to show up
hell, you don't even need to show up, this is a mail in ballot state, you just have to walk your ass to the post box

Washington’s 2025 voter turnout tracks among lowest on record
King County expecting about 45% participation despite fewer than 20% of voters having returned ballots so far.

They say Sanders really inspires them, right? Yet they did not vote for him in his primaries - even his (supposedly) biggest supporters, young voters. Sanders said out of his own mouth that young voters didn’t turn out for him. But his supporters still blame others to this day for his losses.

Do you realize Trump wanted congress not to reconvene? That’s why he kept screeching that Republican senators should blow up the filibuster to pass the CR, hoping congress would not reconvene.
At this point, I honestly think you are (a) a problem drinker, (b) MAGA op, (c) both.

YOU have no strategy or strategic thinking. Your definition of “cave” according to this conversation is allowing trump to be king without any legislative branch of government forever and all federal programs and funds being closed down forever. For always. He’d love that. Maybe think that through.

You thought the answer was for congress to stay out of session permanently and let trump run everything alone the next three years and no federal programs funded for years?
Look I think we both know you’re not stating any logical strategy or outcome at all. If you do have one, I’d love to hear it.

You mean refuse to open the government forever, and no congress in session and no federal workers paid, and no laws passed and no federal funding approved forever?

Please define “hold the line,” what does that mean? Dems senators should the shutdown going for how long and until what? I told you my position but you have not explained yours well.

What bothers me is - is it “this site” or vvhite “progressives”? I cringe every time I see that word used for them. If we mean someone who creates real gains in societal progress, no one is more truly progressive in the US than Black people.

No. I read exactly what it said. How long were they supposed to hold the line and to what result? Your strategy and desired outcome was what? I’m just asking.

In my mind, the move was to get Harris in to avoid P2025 plans to kill, impoverish, harm tens of millions of people, and pressure a Harris admin on foreign policy. Including on UAE who is aiding the massacre of hundreds of thousands in Sudan. Now we have Trump who is immovable on human suffering.
