The new Senate bill doesn’t just gut renewables. It includes massive giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.

It exempts oil and gas drillers from paying corporate taxes. It gives coal companies a tax credit for burning more coal.

It uses your tax dollars to subsidize climate destruction.
The Senate is about to destroy clean energy to give tax cuts to billionaires
The bill could pass within the next 24 hours.

Just a reminder of who Thom Tillis is:

In 2013, as N.C. House Speaker, he passed a massive voter suppression law that was struck down because it targeted Black voters "with almost surgical precision.”

In the Senate he voted against the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Right Act.

Mass civil resistance movements need mass participation and popular support to be successful. If the movement is perceived by the public to be violent, they're less likely to be supportive of its demands or to participate in its activities.

Non-violence helps increase support and participation.

And, I have to stress this, you can still march peacefully, carry signs, chant, with the National Guard there. We did, twice, in Philadelphia after the George Floyd homicide. People demonstrated peacefully while the guard stood around City Hall. It may have been educational for them, who knows.

Call your senators and let them know if they join Schumer here you will never give them another dime or another vote and you’ll devote your time and money to anyone who primaries them.
If the Senate Democrats do this, yes, it’s a massive betrayal of their base and an unconscionable abdication of their duty.

Every single one of them who’s complicit in this scheme needs to be driven out of politics forever.
The word for what Senate Democrats are doing right now is "betrayal." Not only are they voluntarily surrendering the only leverage they have, the leverage they have spent months promising to use against Trump, they're doing it while lying and pretending they want the opposite.

So this is a great time to contact your Member of Congress.

What Trump has done for US farmers so far:
-frozen their foreign aid program (and left their food to rot)
-encouraged EU to ban their products
-frozen legally-owed reimbursements for their energy efficiency upgrades etc.
-threatened to deport half their workforce
-suppressed research on bird flu
Trump on the EU possibly banning food imports from the US: "I don't mind. Let them do it. Let them do it."

This is horseshit. If you fear protests will lead to martial law then you already live under martial law — and you’re the one who declared it.

Plus, it *won’t* lead to a declaration of martial law and the fear misconstrues the nature of the threats we face.
