If you can generate a book a day, audience will forget the book with an hour. If you write a book within a year (or more), people will remember the book most likely longer depending on quality. Now, who’s going to win this race?
“If I can generate a book in a day, and you need six months to write a book, who’s going to win the race?” God this is bleak

Five-year-old me: Oooh, that Batman cartoon! What adventures will he go on today?

*the villain is left in tears, unable to process their fears and obsessions. And Batman, a looming presence born of the inability to rationalize terror, is the only one there to comfort them*

Me: Oh. Huh.

This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

Demonschool is getting to the point where it is repetitive in its battles. The battles are varied in enemies patterns. I wish it was varied in objectives than kill X enemies.

AI is not alive. It cannot translate human experiences. It cannot feel for you, and even if it could, it would only be that much clearer that its output is not something YOU made. It has no relation to you.

I do not want future writers to have to come up like I did, starving and stealing and hooking and scribbling out a few sentences before collapsing into bed. I want a world that respects them and provides a firm bedrock of social safety while they build their skills and live their lives.

I dream of having enough stability in our culture that anyone who wants to can pursue the arts, but the meaning comes from that pursuit, from translating human experiences through skills acquired over time. Art is labor, but it isn't just some commodity that can be pulped and reconstituted.

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

This is not a tool of democratization, artists are not some privileged elite, and all the jargon and references to socialist thinkers and labor theory in the world can't conceal that you're devaluing human skills and helping to gut a field that beautifies and expands the world

I legit fear for the overall game literacy of new junior designers in the coming years for various reasons and a big part of that is just, a lack of idiosyncratic games in many diets that aren't, like, tied to insidious monetization loops.

Let people play games that are weird in honest ways, dude.
