I remember as a kid seeing how upset my grandma was watching Waco live on CNN. How furious she was over ruby ridge. She was an old time racist and she was wrong about almost everything, but her reaction to the violence was real. She was horrified. Where are those people now? Dead, I guess.

It strikes me that these killings of people who will not be turned away by fear in the face of threats, intimidation or violence, who are there to help, to protect us and care for us, who act with dignity and humanity, those are who they killed first in Gaza too.
