It's tempting to withhold forgiveness from people who have done evil before learning empathy but frankly calling people in and accepting they can change is how we win. Empathy is the natural human state and we can fight hate with love.

Wild that an opinion piece in the Australian on the weekend published unconfirmed things from rando accounts on X - where so much misinformation about Bondi was floating around.

Bit of a false alarm; crowd isn’t marching yet though they are assembled in the street currently. Making speeches still.

Deborah Conway explicitly stated that she did not consider Palestinian children to be like other human children. It was viciously, blatantly racist.
Albanese is mentioning Deborah Conway and the criticise she has faced for her pro-Israel views as an example of why he needed to call this RC. Again, if you needed more proof as to what this was really about.

Totally incoherent statement. It’s one thing to refuse to boycott (still pathetic), another to explicitly say you support the decision to blacklist Abdel-Fattah and use an incomprehensible argument for why.

Bendigo Writers Festival, Meanjin, now Adelaide Writers … powerful vested interests would rather destroy the cultural institutions they are supposedly responsible for than allow certain voices to be heard
Adelaide Festival board facing a stark choice: Are they willing to sacrifice the entire festival to prevent a single Palestinian-Australian author from speaking?

The bullies that went after first the Bendigo and now Adelaide writers festival for daring to include a Palestinian voice don't give a fuck that this will wreck the festival. They just want to make it clear they'll do this again and again, so you're best complying in advance.

Had anything like this happened before in Australia? A Royal Commissioner appointed through negotiation with bad-faith actors, details leaked out via extremist activists journalists?

Zionist are a hate group.

Any Royal Commission needs to as a priority look into how the Israeli govt is interfering into Australia domestic politics.
Absolutely disgraceful.

The Adelaide Festival has cancelled Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah from appearing.

1) So if someone in the IDF bought a pair of Jordans then Nike should be boycotted? 2) yes, a coordinated boycott of small list of companies with specific reasons and goals will go broader, last longer, and have more success then everyone choosing different things to boycott.
January 7, 2026 at 2:30 PM
Exactly there’s no evidence the Sony cameras haven’t just been bought of the shelf, but the bigger point is to focus on the companies on the list to focus the pressure, rather than just every brand anyone in the IDF uses.
January 7, 2026 at 2:21 PM
The whole point of a coordinated campaign is to be coordinated, and Sony isn’t on the list. The fact that the IDF uses their camera doesn’t show anything.
