I was a picky kid, and I've taken some pride in overcoming most of that. I still don't like mustard or horseradish. I still don't eat olives (I don't need to love another salty thing). I don't entirely understand most shellfish, unless large amounts of garlic butter are involved.
Do we still do Trash Tuesday food takes?

Love strawberries, hate strawberry-flavored things.

Love peaches, hate peach-flavored anything.

Love bananas, hate banana-flavored things.

Mounds are good. Almond Joys are fine.

I'm quoting this so you don't have to see Neil Gaiman's picture to know the lawsuit dismissals were because the (for legal purposes, alleged) crimes were in New Zealand and these suits were in the US.
Dismissed because of jurisdictional confusion, it should be stressed, rather than any new revelation that would discredit the survivors of sexual assault who have come forward.
Federal judges have dismissed three lawsuits accusing British author Neil Gaiman of sexually assaulting his children's nanny in New Zealand.

Okay but this is fantastic. I enjoy my spot between Queer Leftist Artists & Shitposters and British Wildlife and Birding Community (?).

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail

I've just watched the final Project Hail Mary trailer, and I am concerned that this film is going to Own Me. They seem to have understood why I love that book?

David Attenborough voice: this male has found a different way to excel…
I read earlier that male Winter Olympics athletes were injecting acid into their penises and wondered what on earth that was about, but it turns out that the answer is even dumber than I'd imagined

I lost a friend yesterday. It was cancer. Listen to something classical; enjoy a walk outdoors; be supportive to the people around you. She was.

This is a great thread. I think about this a lot. I don’t further fund the work of predators and assholes, but I might someday go back and read the books and listen to the songs I loved. I keep them apart until I decide some day. I don’t know.
Thread.

Shitty people can make good and even great art. Likewise, dropping a favorite artist after you realize you can no longer support them can feel like a divorce or a friend breakup because they and their work were just that important to you. That shit hurts, even when it's necessary for you.
A tough one to sit with--but we must--is that some people's ability to make good art in part derived from, or was protected by, the fact that they were enabling or doing terrible things. See also: We Need to Talk about Cosby doc. Even more troubling on this score: Read deep reporting on Alice Munro
