Writer/Director/Accordionist. Lover of (almost) all things Doctor Who, Star Trek, TCM, Criterion Collection, indie rock, classical music and Muppets.
What was your #childhoodcinema ?

I probably spent more time at the (long gone) Hilcrest 4, but my other childhood cinema, the Trail Theater in St. Joe MO, recently reopened as a rep movie house, showing classic films and hosting live events. Hope to catch a film there next time I visit home!

I made a conscious decision last year for my mental health to spend less time doomscrolling social media and do more reading. This is the result - all the books I read in 2025 - part 1!

It’s Letterboxd wrap up time! Tim Curry was top actor and top director was Robert Hughes (who I had to look up to remind me who he was - he directed the Phineas & Ferb movies).

I would love to see animated adaptations of any of the following:

Beanworld by Larry Marder

Bone by Jeff Smith

Freddy the Pig by Walter R Brooks

The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death by Daniel Pinkwater
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

I've heard people claim that Kash Patel and his ilk are cosplaying at being government officials. This is not a good comparison...cosplayers generally know something about the roles they are assuming, and do the work to make it authentic. These guys are Halloween costuming as officials.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

Harder mode: No DC, DreamWorks/Illumination, Amblin, sci-fi, horror, or from Japan.

Same here. All I got are all-time stats. But I’m pretty sure that my most listened-to new album this year was the Beths’ “The Straight Line Was a Lie.”
I don't do music streaming, I still just buy music...mostly buying CDs and ripping them to MP3, although I have a lot of MP3-only stuff from TMBG. If there's a way to get iTunes to tell me my most-listened-to songs of just the last year (as opposed to "since 2009"), I can't find it.
