It's gonna be hard for anyone to become the next Michael Caine if the current Michael Caine sells his voice to companies who are terminally risk-averse and don't want to put in the work to nurture the next Michael Caine when they can just keep using the old one forever.

Well, I'm surprised. I was sure he'd find a way to weasel out of it for another few weeks, at least.
Mike Johnson has sworn in Adelita Grijalva, ending the 50 day standoff that left her unable to represent 800K Arizonans in DC amid the shutdown.

It keeps throwing me when I get a Blokees shipment, because they're sent from "Ontario CA." As in, Ontario California. But I keep parsing it as Ontario Canada and wondering if I'll have to COD the tariff.

A medieval nun had a vision she claimed filled in a lot of details about the morning of Good Friday, and this was formalized as the fourteen Stations of the Cross, which adds some events and miracles nowhere mentioned in the Bible itself. One might say it was...cruci-fiction.

Like it or not (and there's a lot to not like), we've got a two-party system here. Third parties get their support absorbed into one of the big two anyway, so more efficient to skip straight to taking over the party from within, like the crazies did to the GOP over the last generation or so.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

The sane response to our aging electrical grid is to work on upgrading it. The current oligarchy/MAGA answer is to ease regulations and make it easier for big money companies build their own power plants and disconnect from the grid. Welcome to exploited nation status with rolling blackouts.

Nostalgia for COVID lockdown, the last time a majority of Republicans actually did something that was for the good of everyone. Complaining the whole time, yes, but for a few months they actually did it.

The factoid that the average physical scientist thinks they can opine on issues outside their specialty is false. Vulcanologist Marc, who lives in a man cave and publishes 10000 anti-woke diatribes in publication-mill "journals" a day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.
This is the abstract of "Evolutionary Psychology and the Crisis of Empirical Rigor in Feminist Studies," from the forthcoming November 2025 issue of SEXUALITY & CULTURE.

You will hate this abstract more and more as every word passes through your brain. Trust me: the article is worse.

During my lifetime, the GOP has followed this progression:
1. The Democrats are our rivals.
2. The Democrats are our enemies.
3. Democracy is our enemy.

The National Anthem of the U.S. was set to the tune of an entirely different but popular-at-the-time song ("To Anacreon In Heaven"). That makes Weird Al the most quintessentially American singer alive today.

The media makes a lot of noise about low-information voters, but completely ignores no-information voters...because those people aren't watching the media, so why acknowledge their existence?
This is the part I really need people to understand. Yes, Trump was bad, is bad, yes he said all this stuff, and also a whole bunch of voters consume zero (0) news media at all.

He's slotted nicely into the Manchin/Sinema "Not All Democrats" position that lets the media pretend there's a chance of negotiation. After all, Not All Democrats find the GOP's position intolerable, cruel, and inhuman. Some are willing to give a little to get absolutely nothing.
