If you are nationally observing on here what is happening in Minneapolis today, repost the below and donate.
ICE observers in the Twin Cities are in need of dash cams to prevent further intimidation and frivolous claims.

Cams are $110, memory cards $35, and ship to us directly via this wish list: www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/...

If you've been looking for a way to help, we'd sure appreciate it!

I think there's a point where you are so angry that you run out of mental space for fear, and I think a lot of Minneapolis and St. Paul were there, today.
I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

Food for thought all through this thread.
But Pres. Smith reigns supreme.
And please, PLEASE let us not forget that time in 2023 when Karen Smith was elected President of the school board in Bucks County, Pa and swore her oath on a stack of banned books. The most gangsta oath ever! Just brilliant. www.edweek.org/leadership/t...
This School Board President Took Her Oath on a Stack of Contested Books. Here's Why
The school board for Central Bucks County, Pa., has been at the center of divisive political debates.

I appreciate people who can cut through the details to the Big Picture:
Sam Altman: hey I made a machine that stole literally all your stuff in order to make CSAM of your child actors, sometimes it encourages people to kill themselves

Disney: Holy shit here's a billion dollars

Altman: the machine loses more than that each week but thank you. Soon it will become god.

SJUPP!
Carl Linnaeus's beloved pet raccoon, Sjupp, was a gift from the King of Sweden, and regularly stole snacks from Linnaeus's students. This drawing is thought to be Sjupp. (LM/PF/ALS/1) #EYAPets

Some people seem to be looking at this situation backwards:
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Learn from the divas of your heritage, folks:
there’s a scene in the new documentary where Elizabeth Taylor is talking about the stigma of AIDS and how she got involved in the movement and it’s fucking everything

is that THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS 4-BUS SITUATION HAD OCCURRED.

"How can a person truly believe that 15-year-olds can sell sex to middle-aged men, but can’t affirm their own gender?"
it’s simple, really; children are their property and you are allowed to rent property but you can’t let your property make its own choices

"MUTE 'Nuzzi'" has failed me.

(But these *are* the most poetic pair of posts I've stumbled upon thus far.)

Involuntary fannish osmosis says the book was written on her phone? CANNOT DISCONFIRM.

True for a while! Younger boomers can tell you what warm feelings we had for Garrison Keillor. How nice to listen to the radio on Saturdays, his voice rolling out from Lake Woebegon. But when his sexual harassment came out, that was *if* - and his behavior felt *worse* because he'd been a favorite.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

NYT is sucking harder and harder, y'all.
here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol
Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
“What Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.”

Today a wave of destruction wiped out the smart, brave journalism at TeenVogue.

Follow these folks, y'all. They're the real deal.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Concerning:
I'm not a Nobel winning economist, but it seems to me the world's largest retailer and the worlds largest delivery services laying off hundreds of thousands right before the busiest retail and delivery season of the year is perhaps not an optimistic indicator of Trump's promised "Golden Age"
