"Before January 2025 there had been no—zero, zilch—interest in killing off USAID. It wasn't something Trump ran on. It wasn't envisioned in Project 2025. It was only once Elon Musk decided that USAID was evil that destroying the agency became a policy goal for the Republican party."

Can confirm; have lived in a large city for ~13 years, and it's been great and full of extremely positive memories, growth, and opportunities.
We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

DUH! I'm so tired of supposed leaders in my industry falling behind this administration, and it's about time they realized their callousness.

Tech stocks have tumbled since Trump took office. More about the mindset that led much of the Valley to support him in the first place.

We as a country will save nothing. Federal employee salaries make up just 4% of the budget—roughly $271 billion. So even if every federal worker were fired, that’s the maximum you’d save. Meanwhile, the U.S. House GOP has released a budget that raises the debt limit by $4 trillion.

Elon Musk's circumvention of the US government and Constitution is concerning. It is also fooling his audience.

He is supposedly tasked with cutting wasteful spending. He is doing a very bad job. He is ignoring the largest areas of spending and focusing on some of the smallest. (1/n)

Hoping this illegal move gets resolved quickly. Make no mistake - these cuts would destroy medical research in the US.
On changes to #NIH indirect rates, there is a law in place that prohibits NIH from making such changes without the approval of Congress. See Division D, Title II Section 224 of The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 (Public Law No: 118-47) grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

I worked on software for minor safety / reporting child sexual abuse material at a previous job. What this is saying is, we now have a government who would rather pretend the word "gay" does not exist than spend money on enforcing anti-child-abuse efforts.
Wrote up just how *actually evil* the demands from the Trump admin to NCMEC are and how they will *absolutely* lead to children dying. From the cultists who insisted they wanted to "save the children" to literally killing them deserves to be called out: www.techdirt.com/2025/02/07/m...
