Noem: We have not deported military veterans.

Magaziner: We are joined on zoom by a gentleman who is an army combat veteran who was shot twice while serving our country. You deported him to Korea.

For those of you keeping score, 18-22 year-old students calling for an end to slaughter in Gaza are so racist they need to be expelled or deported, but 24-35 year-olds celebrating Hitler, rape, and, um, racism are just kids being kids so chill.

Also, racism is over so no need for Voting Right Act.

It is absolutely insane to me that we're having a debate over whether or not the rightwing deploys violent rhetoric within days of a Fox News personality calling for homeless people to be killed by lethal injection. There is no excuse for this obliviousness. It's unacceptable.

There were more than 120 domestic terrorist attacks, in which there were 11 murders, in the United States during the “relative calm” of the 1980s and 1990s. They just all happened to be at abortion clinics, so I guess those don’t count.

There's a "national emergency" somewhere. We're just not sure, but we'll figure it out soon & send in the troops. Somewhere, to be sure, with a bunch of Black people.

Just wildly unconstitutional, immediate presidency-ending stuff, & yet here we are for the One Special Boy

the core issue here is that crime rates are down exponentially from where they were just a few decades ago:

you’re asking Democrats to make “effective plans to deal with crime” that *largely only exists in the deluded minds of brainwashed MAGAs, most of whom don’t live in cities*
While I agree with you that Democrats must stand up against this military takeover of our streets, opposition to this takeover must also be combined with effective plans to deal with crime. Like it or not, crime is a very salient issue for most American voters.

the second reason to not entertain compromises on trans people’s right to play sports is IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MORE THAN SPORTS.
by 2020, before the springer buyout, politico did a journalism& got one of the guys spearheading the attack on trans people to nakedly explain it was never about sports, that sports was the easiest way to break solidarity with trans people.

NASA just won an Emmy for our live broadcast of the total solar eclipse last year. We produced a documentary film about the James Webb Space Telescope that's out in theaters and on Netflix. We have podcasts, we write feature stories. People wear the agency logo on t-shirts. We're still getting cut.
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.

Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.
