What's done is done. Trump, without consulting anyone, has demolished the East Wing of the WH. But now he plans to build a ballroom that will almost double the size of the White House residence. Ideally, construction of this monstrosity must be stopped immediately.

Ukraine's army has confirmed the post below.

Southern Forces spokesman Vladyslav Voloshyn said due to massive assaults, they had to withdraw from Novouspenivske, Nove, Okhotnychy, Uspenivka + Novomykolaivka.

Zelenskyy MUST act decisively. This defence is a total shambles.

..and an update from the Zaporizhzhia frontline.
In its morning report, Russia's MoD also announced the complete capture of Nove and Novouspenivske villages, which were in the grey zone, and I think this is much more believable than the Kupiansk claims.

Here is President Zelenskyy's reaction on the 3rd anniversary of the liberation of Kherson.

11 years ago Russia had captured two of Ukraine's mainland regional capital cities. After losing Kherson, the "world's second army" has exactly the same number despite a decade's fighting.

A good Remembrance or Veteran's day for all the freedom loving people of the world!
11 November is of course a significant day.
Remembrance Day in most of the free world, now including Ukraine.

It's also the 3rd anniversary of the liberation of Kherson.
Back then it was Day 261 of Russia's full invasion, and this is one of the joyous videos I published on (pre-Musk) Twitter.

Hard to believe, but as long as the fuel tanks themselves weren't destroyed, it is certainly possible.
This is from last night, but I think deserves another showing.
Kharkiv, east Ukraine.

I was totally shocked this evening when I saw this photo.

Remember the gas station in Kharkiv region "destroyed" on Friday? Somehow it was reopened yesterday evening. Incredible!

Sadly, this meme sums up what the Democrats will get out of the shutdown saga:
a group of people standing under a tent with the words " you 'll get nothing and like it " on the bottom

I'm short, too, but I will chip in $10 because: 1) your post and 2) it is the right thing to do.

Eventually, someone is going to get killed and it will be on camera (several people have already died in ICE custody, but those deaths have taken place inside ICE facilities the public doesn't have access to).
This is hard to watch. I don't have words for how angry this makes me.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”

He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care

This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person

They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

This is one reason the filibuster is so anti-democratic: it allows both parties to avoid responsibility and accountability to their citizens by allowing them to avoid final votes on consequential issues. The only good thing to come out of this is the restoration of SNAP benefits.

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"
November 7, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Yeah, at this point, the Senate agreeing to restore funding for SNAP means nothing, as long as the President believes he can do whatever he wants with Congressional funding.
I don't understand the assumption that the administration will stop trying to defund SNAP, a program the USDA chief calls "corrupt," given how often the WH has ignored Congressional jurisdiction over funding. I don't know why the WH would stop pursuing something it's fighting in court right now...

Exactly. Chuck Schumer is not qualified to be the minority leader in the age of MAGA. He simply doesn't get it.
Chuck Schumer’s no vote on the deal to end the shutdown is irrelevant

He couldn’t keep his caucus together or extract assurances from the House-even after Tuesday’s landslide Democratic victories-showing that he’s totally ineffectual as a leader

Sadly, millions of Americans will now pay the price
Q: Will you assure House Democrats they'll get a vote on ACA subsidies by a date certain?

MIKE JOHNSON: Ah -- no. I'm not promising anyone anything.

THIS.

Schumer only voted no because his vote was not needed. But, make no mistake: either he gave the other Democrats permission to vote to reopen the government, or, he is too weak and ineffective a leader to control his caucus. Either way, he has to go. Immediately.
I don’t care if Schumer voted no. If he’s unable to wrangle the caucus, he’s not an effective leader. I’ll continue to push for the caucus to elect a new one.

Even though everyone saw this coming from a mile away, I still have to say, FFS.

If the Democrats get back in power and impeach Trump (again), abuse of the pardon power better be one of the charges.

General Pétain was sure the Germans would keep their promises, too.
November 10, 2025 at 3:04 AM
Agreed Schumer and Durbin are about as useful as a stale fart.
The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Hassan: if Republicans won't vote to extend the subsidies after the government reopens, then "shame on them."

I'm sure the people seeing a 100% increase in their premiums feel much better now.
November 10, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Angus King says he voted to reopen the government because the Democratic strategy wasn't working. He says a 50-50 chance that Republicans will hold a vote on extending health subsidies is better than no chance.
November 10, 2025 at 2:41 AM
Listening to these Democrats justifying their vote to reopen the government without an agreement to extend the healthcare subsidies makes me physically sick.
Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.
November 10, 2025 at 2:38 AM
Chuck sure showed 'em, though!
Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.
November 10, 2025 at 2:11 AM
One thing that Republicans can always count on: the Dems will always eventually collapse.
NEW: It appears Senate Dems have enough votes for cloture with Jacky Rosen flipping to a yes vote. Rand Paul voted no. Kaine, Rosen, Fetterman, Shaheen, Hassen, King, Durbin, Cortez-Masto are the dems yes votes.
November 10, 2025 at 2:06 AM
Hold the line!
If you have a Dem senator and you're seeing this right now, CALL THEM RIGHT NOW and tell them NO. If you don't know anyone who would be affected by this, call them for my friend Lisa. She cannot afford insurance without ACA subsidies and without health insurance I'm terrified she will die.
! A key group of Senate Democrats is leaning toward voting for a deal to end the shutdown, provided final details can be worked out like worker protections (Gift link)

(Deal does NOT include an ACA extension.)

Could have been worse. He could have done it in a circus.

Speaking of, wanna bet that this will be one of the first things he uses the new WH ballroom for? The people's house!
If MAGA knee jerks with "you pippols is booin trewps" ask them why Trump is degrading them by swearing them in AS A STUNT at a football game?
