Really dark. Nothing makes me less optimistic about American democracy than the rise in right-wing vigilantism and the near-silence from mainstream news sources about it.

Biden and Congressional leadership deciding that Democrats' message should be "Republicans are entirely correct about immigration, but they want to wait a few months longer than we do to put their ideas into action" is such classic behavior from them. Feels like it's 2014 again.

Yesterday's Reuters poll was some good news I genuinely wasn't expecting - wall-to-wall pro-IDF/anti-Palestinian news coverage hasn't been keeping support for Israel's assault on Palestinian civilians propped up. It's falling and voters, especially Democrats, are starting to oppose weapon transfers.

A Twitter user dared to make an observation about Amy Schumer’s behavior lately, in contrast to Bella and Gigi Hadid, and woke up to a bunch of direct messages from the comedian. WOW.

This Halloween, I went on an extended rant about the scariest thing I could think about: the state of the Texas Democratic Party
in this issue, we have two unexpectedly open safe seats and whatever the fuck Dean Phillips is doing. plus: Houston feigns surprise at the revelation that one of Congress's most notorious bad bosses, who is, bafflingly, the leading alternative to Houston electing a conservative mayor, is a bad boss

A swing seat Democratic state house candidate in Virginia posted some raunchy videos online years ago, and Republicans, dissatisfied with merely convincing local and national news to run the story, are escalating by mailing naked photos of her to voters *from the official party address*

I have no idea why I decided to do a Saw series rewatch, or why that got me using letterboxd again, but the first one holds up as a fun little thiller

Review of ‘Saw’ (2004) ★★★
It's hard to look back at the first Saw movie without the context of all the sequels, but it does hold up as a fun little thriller from the 2000s. The acting is bad, the makeup is bad, and the…

Progressive turnout in Rhode Island might be bad today, or it might be about in line with the rest of the district, depending on whether you think it's necessary to include the tiny town of Little Compton that Bernie did very well in in your comparison
