Every week or so I'm shocked and disturbed at how readily university administrations do illegal performative shit to punish their own faculty and students, and then lose a lawsuit and cost the university a whole bunch of money. It's almost like they're intentionally trying to destroy education.

We analyzed beef recipe promotion on Instagram across 10 top U.S. food media and recipe outlets over 30-days. The recipes called for more than 57 pounds of beef. If followers made those recipes just once that month, it would contribute as much #GreenhouseGas as nearly 3 million cars for a year.

@indivisible.org pls alert all Michigan Indivisibles to take action.

Everyone call and write: David LaGrand. Mayor of Grand Rapids · (616) 456-3168. mayor@grcity.us

This is UNACCEPTABLE.
What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

No. No. No.

Punitive processes make narrowly targeted programs *less* efficient and *more* costly. Because more scrutiny requires more bureaucracy.

Punitive processes also make it *less* likely that people will get aid for which they qualify. Because of the roadblocks and stigma scrutiny creates.

"As the former DEA official Dennis Dayle lamented in 1986: “In my 30 years of experience with the DEA and related agencies, the main objectives of my investigations almost invariably turned out to be CIA workers.”"

Crucial context from @prospect.org's Maureen Tkacik, but also just a fantastic read
As a teenager, Marco Rubio worked for his brother-in-law Orlando Cicilia in an import and sale business of exotic animals. It was a front for moving nearly half a million pounds of cocaine and marijuana

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

Please retweet and comment on this regardless of if you can donate!

Very behind on donations, still need $8,500 for 2025/2026 specialist care (neurosurgeon, two neurologists, plastic surgeon, endocrinologist, neuroanesthesiologist plus tests and treatments including surgeries)
My next trip is in February, with ICT and ICP neurosurgery tests, lumbar puncture, head angiogram, endocrinology, maybe chronic infectious persistence tests www.gofundme.com/f/help-emily...

So expensive, I’ll reapply for financial aid but may be denied bc I’m not a NY resident, please donate/share
