So…the Bari Weiss-led CBS News loses Anderson Cooper from 60 Minutes after 20 years but keeps Peter Attia, the health contributor whose name appears in documents connected with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein over 1,700 times. So far, she’s covering the institution in glory. https://loom.ly/fI7qA9o

AI does not enhance “efficiency.” AI is a permission structure for a totalizing regime of austerity and labor immiseration.
“We plan to hire an AI rewrite specialist to ingest the reporting by Hannah and others and use AI to convert it into stories.”

ICE/CBP have gone unfunded for 3 days; how about 3 years? The best way to claw back the $170 billion immigration enforcement surge in the Big Beautiful Bill is to just claw it back. The 2nd-best way is to slowly drain it by never funding the underlying appropriation. @ryanlcooper.com makes the case:

*There oughta be a special FX museum for diegetic-prototypes that didn't even make it into the film
Around 2001—it may have *been* 2001—I attended a talk by Fred Ordway, tech advisor to Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

He showed a photo of a briefcase computer prop, which didn't make it into the movie. Keyboard, video screen, camera, printer, phone.

Audience laughed. It looked so, so 1990.
