I share photos of our dog, Cleopatra (Cleo for short). I also post random thoughts. Was going to try and make this a profile for JUST dogs, but really, I have too many thoughts...

Cleo got an abscess in her head and spent the last week in a cone of shame after the vet dealt with the abscess. Today was her first cone-free day and boy was she happy!

But she’s got a shaved spot on her head that makes her look a bit lopsided. Poor baby!

Every line of this was beautiful. It sounds exactly like how an octopus would convince me to let it rule the world. And you know what? I am convinced!

For Canadians out there, if you think this is only a US teaching issue, I don't think so. Many of the techniques, such as three-cueing, I recognize from my daughter's time in elementary school.

Please read the thread and the article.
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

Happy whale explosion day to those who celebrate! 🐋

On this day 55 years ago, blubber went boom at the Oregon Coast.

That's when officials made the legendary decision to blow up a dead whale.

Here's a look back at the explosive piece of Oregon lore with a 2020 story by OPB's Tiffany Camhi written ahead of the whale of a tale's 50th anniversary.
‘It was like a blubber snowstorm’: Why Oregon blew up a whale in 1970
The exploding whale is a piece of Oregon lore that just won’t go away. It’s one of those real-life stories that just sounds too strange to be real.

For anyone who needs a smile, just scroll through this thread. I would add to it, but Cleo is currently in a cone of shame. She does not want me to share her shame on the interwebs.
hi, can you do me a favor?

take a picture of your pet and then take a picture again while you sing to them

thank you, this is for science

here is my contribution

How am I supposed to teach my daughter that life is beautiful, when most of the time I feel that life is a never ending list of things I'm not doing a good enough job of, and people I'm disappointing.

A helpful bus passenger brought forward a lone glove so the driver could put it in the lost and found, a lady sitting at the front of the bus then sighed so forlornly and said softly to herself "I had a glove once." Then sighed again and looked out the window.
Haunts me still 15 + years later.
do you ever have things that someone has said to you that live forever in your head (non-serious edition)? some older boomer hippie guy said “hahmmus gives you fahts” to me 26 years ago at a free fridge and i think of it every fucking single time i buy hummus to this day.

I’ve spent the last two hours at my kiddos elementary school dance. Here is my summary of costumes seen and not:
-LOTS of k-pop demon hunters, mostly HUNTR/X, but one dad is dressed as the demon version of Jinu.
- at least 6 different inflatables

In case anyone is wondering what Cleo is up to lately, she’s been my picketing buddy buddy for the last three weeks. She’s bringing joy to all of us on the line and charming passersby.

Full support to Canada Post workers in the face of more attacks not just from management, but now from the government too.
It’s absolutely right that workers walk off the job in response to the government taking a chainsaw to Canada Post.

If we lose the unique national infrastructure the postal service has, it will never be rebuilt. We should be using it to expand services to the public, not nickel and diming it.

I don't want a video explaining how to do the thing. I want step-by-step instructions in a plain text document, on a single page, ideally that I can see all of without scrolling while using a reasonably big font.
