My last story for the year - the third in a sort of trilogy about the energy crisis. This one is about about the unmanaged, unfunded, messy transition away from gas and the impact on businesses.Feels like a perfect example of where we really really could be doing better www.rnz.co.nz/news/in-dept...
Lost in transition: The businesses trapped by New Zealand’s energy crisis
Behind the nation's energy crisis are businesses quietly fighting to survive - many feel they have nothing but bad options.

None of these countries has ever attacked Russia.

The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.

"Trump’s anti-anti-fascism orders distort not just words like terrorism, violence, and fascism, but also the law, how the federal government is organized, and what the Constitution establishes as the foundational principles of this country."
Everything is terrorism in Trump’s America
But don’t call that fascism. That would be bad.

As an internet culture journalist, I think it’s important for me to continue to observe the depravity that goes viral on X, but one of the reasons I’m glad I stopped posting there is because I think it helps me avoid normalizing the rhetoric celebrating the political brutality in America right now

DHS posts an antisemitic meme about keeping "globalists" out of the US.

One of the internet's most influential white nationalists, the British white supremacist known as "Raw Egg Nationalist," responds with a groyper meme.

The DHS account RESPONDS, calling him "Patriot."

This from former President Obama mirrors the typical response from Democrats. It is starkly different from the finger pointing and threats coming from the right.
We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

It’s essential NATO responds strongly, with increased aid to democratic Ukraine and more sanctions on fascist Russia.

If it doesn’t, Putin will see this as a sign of weakness and will test the alliance further - increasing the risk of a more dangerous escalation of the conflict with the West.

I may be oversensitive, but this seems troubling. And you don't have to think too hard to see an economic angle here, too.
This is the official spokesperson for the White House, stating that the President hopes to deploy the United States military to occupy every city controlled by the political party that opposes him. Explicitly.
Leavitt: "These are the bad guys that we are picking up in Washington DC every day. The president would love to do this in every Democrat-run city across the country."

This is exactly what the European far-right does: pretend that advocates for Ukraine want us to be "dying in Russia." The point is to scare people into doing nothing at all (as if letting Russia win would make us safer)
I missed the part where Democrats said they wanted to send US troops into Russia. And why is it necessary for him to always debate fictitious Democratic positions that he invents in his twisted brain rather than actual ones? Too tough to argue against the real ones?

What a completely insane policy to boost O&G by making vehicles as inefficient as possible 💀

In any other country this would be treated as comically insane.
