you'll spend your entire life thinking "that's not her, not really" and pushing the thought away. you'll never truly grieve. you'll become attached to a simulacrum, something that isn't your grandmother & never was; it will eventually replace her in your memory. you will live in hell before you die

If I were editing a column about Charlie Kirk’s political genius, I would tell the writer he needed to quote Kirk’s actual political beliefs. If the writer responded that doing so would weaken or distract from his argument, it’d be a pretty good sign that the column was not ready for prime time.

Also and while I’m at it — if you don’t say tariffs are taxes on US importers and consumers when citing the revenue the government celebrates that hey’ve brought in, you’re not credible.

If Zohran had lost, everyone would say it was because his pro-Palestine politics alienated voters and were out of step with the Democratic Party. So the fact that he won is a reflection that voters at worst don't care about and at best actively support solidarity with Palestinians.

Finished BETTER CALL SAUL this morning. That is the GODFATHER II of tv shows: a deeper, richer, subtler, more tragic and more heartbreaking recontextualization of an already moving story. It transforms a pulp thriller into a meditation on inexorability. Stupendous writing, directing, acting. Unreal.
