Just taking a moment to appreciate these wonderful pictures of Tom Baker with @louisejameson.bsky.social & friends at his MBE investiture this week. How does he get *more* like the Doctor the older he gets? #TomBaker MBE - it's about time.🧣🏅

Logging in to say “log off.”
The most important thing you can do to improve your quality of life is to quit discursive social media.
You’re in a doom loop of looking for dopamine hits in the places that make you need them.
If you are reading this, you shouldn’t be.

I am bewildered that this labour of Sisyphus is being carried out by volunteers, while Southern Water, which has admitted responsibility for the catastrophe, is doing nothing to remediate it.

A huge cleanup effort has seen volunteers working to remove beads by hand and machine. They can only wait and see the extent of damage to wildlife and dune habitat

I've spent the last 3 years animating episode 1 of the Daleks' Master Plan for its 60th anniversary today! Yes, we had a slight technical hitch when I realised I'd uploaded the wrong version of the file, but we're good now!

And you might want to keep watching to the very end..

I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlour
Drinking milkshakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
Don't think you knew you were in this song.

I've always liked that bit.

Play for Today’s one-off films were a seminal moment in television in the Seventies and Eighties, writes Hannah J Davies. Decades later, Channel 5 is bringing them back, and aiming to diversify small-...

60 years ago today, at 5.50pm BBC 1 broadcast the first episode of the 12-episode epic Daleks' Master Plan. It was subsequently junked from the archive.

I've spent the last 3 years animating it. It's not exactly the same as it was. It's not meant to be. But I hope you enjoy it.

5.50 this evening!

Watched Pyramids tonight - and thoroughly enjoyed it. Often I've been quite down on it, as some kind of oddity, but I found it so singularly thrilling. It's amazing how much happens during it!

Definitely see why people rate it as a classic - it beats Planet of Evil certainly.

A must-read on the corrosive influence of Gibb, Grossman and Prescott - the three horsemen of the rapidly unfolding BBC apocalypse.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

inspired by this, I have done a free extract of this section of the book here. it is about understanding that *with all its problems* the BBC is as important for our intellectual health as the NHS is for our physical health:

The media industry keeps talking about linear TV is dead. Well of course it will be if you keep accelerating its decline by pushing people to streaming. It's not completely dead if there are programmes people want to watch.
I love a shared cultural moment. I’m the opposite of whatever it is that makes people not want to watch something because it’s too popular. I’ve hated stuff and gone back to it because I so crave having a moment to share with the world around me. Not just friends, but… everyone. Live Tv is special.
