For those who don't know, state republicans are taking inspiration from the Great Divorce of Saint Louis in 1876, the infamous decision to split STL city from STL county that was, quite literally, entirely motivated by segregationists who wanted to funnel their taxes away from freemen schools etc.
A new proposal in Missouri's legislature could make Jackson County the first county in the state to be split in 150 years. It's spurred by a Republican lawmaker from eastern Jackson County, but elected leaders are skeptical that it will gain traction.

I took this photo of an icon of him at an Episcopal retreat I went on last year. The deputy sheriff who murdered him was acquitted

As @jamellebouie.net notes, even if Trump weren't already illegitimate by virtue of the Fourteenth Amendment's Section 3 prohibition on insurrectionists holding office, he would be illegitimate now for his "long train of abuses and usurpations" making him "unfit to be the ruler of a free people."
