Exactly this. People are too fixated on whether bad actors go to jail or not and insufficiently fixated on getting them to be less bad actors. The former is primarily valuable as a means to the latter; everything else is just the desire for vengeance.
I feel like people aren't actually reading the piece.

As a fan of sports and a lover of the ideal goals of university I would love to see sports separate from universities and be their own amateur leagues that feed into the pros.
I dunno man it just really seems like American universities have lost the plot over the past 30 years or so and while I too love college football and basketball, the people making key decisions at them don't seem to care about their educational mission at all
