I keep saying, lifetime eldercare is what every elderly congressperson believes they are entitled to. There used to be the occasional scandal about things like "house staffer forced to pick up dry cleaning" but you might have noticed they have all decided their staffers are their servants

As Republicans fond of violating the 4th amendment would say "If they aren't doing anything wrong what do they have to hide?"

At least with black people slavery has pretty thoroughly homogenized us into "African-American" from our continental roots, Native Americans consist of hundreds of distinct tribes, languages, heritages, etc that exist to this day!

We marginalized people are at the end of the day just... people, keep that in mind when trying to invoke populations spanning millions as if we speak with one voice, it's as annoying as khivers using black people voting for Biden to justify hating socialists.

Not 10 years before it's breakup the USSR was airlifting Cuban soldiers to Angola to fight south Africa, China with like two orders of magnitude the productive capacity is sending Cuba some lunch.

Like sure, bad judgement on Bernie's part, but focusing on that when shes spent her entire career climbing up whatever vine was within grasp like a game of Donkey Kong Jr. leaves so much on the table.
Even focusing on the "foreign asset" angle does that when she's clearly in an cult!

Pretty sure Pelosi inviting her to speak at the 2012 Democratic National Convention and then being elected DNC vice chair had more to do with her political fortunes than Bernie defending her moments before she endorsed Biden.

Like it's come a long way from the Dunning school, but the portrait painted was one of forced labor, whippings, sexual assault, and family separation. Mass death was mostly relegated to describing the middle passage, not life on the actual plantation.

It wasn't until I visited the Whitney plantation that I learned how sugar plantations worked and realized how much mass death was involved in slavery that I was never taught about in American history.
Mortality rates were so high on sugar plantations during slavery that slaveholders used to coerce enslaved people working other crops like cotton with threats to sell them or their loved ones to sugar plantations.
That’s where the term “sold down the river” came from.
