Imagine health insurance without corporations, what other nation wide body could possibly have the experience and the capacity to take over? Guess we'll never know.
Bessent on CNBC re: White House health care plans: "I'm not involved in the conversation. I know President Trump wants working Americans to keep more of their money, cut out the insurance companies, and we'll see. He's the president of solutions, and I'm sure that we will have a solution to this."

People are going to die because of this.

They're shuttering ongoing studies and have no validated methods of replacing these kinds of experiments with an animal that's only sperated from us by 25 million years.

We're going full "Banana Republic" on this one.
Salazar: "In Congress we've understood that China, we need to bring those jobs back. Maybe to the United States, but maybe near-shoring or rear-shoring. Maybe it's time to bring those jobs to Venezuela and to Chile and to Bolivia and to Central and South America. They happen to be in our back yard."

Ok this is really interesting but also 1 big reason for govt to get into low-margin businesses is that private companies may choose locations/business models for them that maximize slim margins but don't maximize people's access to essential goods/services, see also: health care

Sen. Slotkin's comfortability with imperialism abroad is why she can't be our spokesperson against fascism at home.
Sen. Slotkin said today—to my surprise—that she's unaware of any illegal orders *so far*.

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

The only time I've seen lament over Black voter turnout was Cuomo supporters claiming that younger black voters needed to listen to "their elders" and other weird centrist nonsense based on some imagined claim on our communities political loyalty.
I just read a lament, re: the laborious, nettlesome burden of keeping Black voters motivated to turn out, that the Dem coalition relies “on placating a group that is 13% of the population.”

Just do the math, it went on — which makes one wonder: doesn’t “the math” involve counting to 50? Hello?
