ICYMI: I’m looking for gigs as a writer; the following is a thread of the select work I’ve done so far, and if you’re looking to hire a writer/film critic for Bollywood and Indian cinema, I could be your guy.
Apologies in advance for being THAT kind of subtweeter but this is happening to enough people close to me that I’ve gotta let this out. If you’re obsessed with accusing my friends of being stalkers but ALSO obsessively use ClearSky to raze through their posts alarmingly regularly, BUY A MIRROR.

Also for the record, I think it's unfortunate Corenswet didn't sign up with the boycott, but frankly, weaponizing the boycott list to own people online you hate because of petty nerd tribalism is absolutely pathetic.

I like the parts in SUPERMAN (2025) where Gunn does a bunch of the same things that were in MAN OF STEEL and BATMAN V SUPERMAN and a bunch of reviews pretended they were different.

For The National News this week, I wrote a review of Shazia Iqbal’s Hindi film #Dhadak2, which somehow can’t decide between candyfloss romcom, harrowing drama showing the horrors of caste hegemony, or Indian daily soap. Read more here: www.thenationalnews.com/arts-culture...

1. I’ll preface what I’m about to say with this: “Boy” and “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” are some of the most masterful works to come out of Taika Waititi’s filmography; his balance between humor and drama holds incredibly well in those two films. He is an incredible talent when he brings his A-game.
"Taika Waititi doesn't fit Star Wars" is not only a lazy take, it's also kinda stupid.
Yeah, the guy who directed the best episode of The Mandalorian and made the closest thing to a Flash Gordon movie we have this century in Thor: Ragnarok means he's not a good fit. Do people hear themselves?

That last line is the most diabolically poetic I’ve read here, lmfao
James Gunn's "Superman" is as much a crucifixion story as anything Donner, Singer or Snyder did.
The only difference is that this saviour from the heavens isn't crucified on a cross, but on "X."

Interesting that a lot of fans of James Gunn's "Superman" don't see that he's very overtly doing "the descent of Christ into Hades" in the three days between Superman turning himself into the authorities and his triumphant return to Metropolis.
There's even a Charon and a Styx.

Finally scratched this off the watchlist: An old and slightly outdated but still fascinating and level-headed rundown of the merits and shortcomings of 2016's Suicide Squad.

I've mostly stayed off listening to music from Bollywood movies for almost a decade now, save for a few really good ones here and there; it's mainly because I miss the experience of listening to the entire album—flow, progression, et al.

It's impossible to talk positively about Snyder and especially his DC movies because a legion people whose personality is watching video essays have utterly deluded themselves into basically making up an entirely different movie in their heads where Clark says "I love Ayn Rand" and eats babies

There isn’t a single instance in the text of Zack Snyder’s Justice League that even implies (forget outright saying) that this is Starro.
I don’t even remember Snyder saying anything about Starro when talking about this movie. What do you MEAN “use the name”?

The easiest way to compare Zack Snyder and James Gunn's visions for DC are how they adapt goofy characters like Starro
Snyder: "We'll use the name but make it all cool and edgy and spider-like."
Gunn: "... Let's just do the thing from the comics."

This just makes it seem like you've been on the receiving end of women telling you to take the hint to leave them alone and getting really mad about it
Can we finally acknowledge that what Ellis did here was actually really problematic and it was a sign that she was nowhere near the decent person that people conned themselves into believing she was?
