I know everything on the internet dies in time. But discord underpinned it all and having someone added had the solidity feeling of getting a phone number back in the day, even though it's always been so clear it was owned by idiots. Such a thing online should be more like a public service.

Social discord streams have been a consistent bright spot in my life from the start of the pandemic onward, and the idea of that going away with no good alternative soon is super upsetting. It's like a corporation being the one to kick you out of the friend group.
