Pleased to discover that slightly misnaming the national chess championship you won as a school child is a much more serious offence than repeatedly racially abusing your fellow pupils and telling them they should go to the gas chamber

@footballcliches.bsky.social unacceptable surely?
My football app genuinely just notified me that the ‘deadlock’ had been broken at the Etihad.
Is there a minute amount of time that qualifies as a deadlock?

Every case study like this should be balanced by one such as a 15-year-old with suicidal ideation unable to receive any help because CAMHS has been cut to virtual non-existence.
Huge respect to the papers for finding both an 88 year old worried about the tax bill on her 6 bedroom Kensington house and a 20 year old fretting about only being able to save £12k a year tax free.
Top work all around. These are not easy case studies to find.

No. The correct way to understand this is to stop trying to make things fit together. You can watch different people playing Sherlock Holmes, in entirely different stories, without trying to make it add up. Stories are a dressing up box, not a jigsaw.

Explain please how keeping half a million kids in poverty puts the country first? You absolute ghouls
Headline on The World at One just now:

"Sir Keir Starmer has denied putting the Labour Party before the country by ending the two-child benefit cap".

Can we please go back to reporting the actual news, not someone's partisan take on it?

It’s a damning indictment of the political class, of the failure of the last 20 years of political action, that a substantial number of voters now look at this absolute clown car and go, “Yeah, let’s put them in charge, can’t be any worse can it?”

Love the term “slopaganda” - the campaign to get that to be word of the year starts here. Add it to the media literacy syllabus right now!
Gone down a weird rabbithole with far-right Facebook slopaganda* about celebrities cancelling things as a result of the New York election result.

*I just invented this word: AI-generated disinformation content pumped onto social media by right-wing think tanks, and "slopaganda" was right there.

This whole Streeting vs Starmer story is such a Westminster bubble inanity from a bored media class that has gotten addicted to toppling governments and abdicated any responsibility for what they're actually meant to be doing in a healthy society

only in the small print of this article do they make clear that the pensioners paying an extra £2,500 of tax would have to have
“earnings over £125,140”

I know many pensioners are asset rich but how many have income at that level?

Nigel Farage currently railing against Parliament being full of "professional politicians".

He founded UKIP in 1993 and was first elected as an MEP in 1999, twenty-six years ago. Less than 5% of current MPs (31 to be precise) have a longer career in politics than Farage. ~AA
