Personally, I don't think they need defending, but both LXG and Van Helsing are big-budget, later-stage Hammer films in the best way. They're medieval Underworld. They're what vaguely gothy teens (which I was at the time) were crying out for on the Internet. God I love those flicks.

This is why labor laws are so important — and exactly why big corporations spend so much money lobbying against them.

It's also why unions are vital — and why we need to support @sbworkersunited.org's fight against corporate greed.

Solidarity.
NEW: For years, NYC Starbucks workers have claimed that the company has arbitrarily cut their hours, denying them stable schedules. In a historic settlement announced today, Starbucks has to pay out $35 million to 15,000 workers.

This is the power of labor laws.

Seriously. I got downvoted to within an inch of my life on r/movies when I said I thought the newest Avatar had already come out.

Cameron definitely has some kind of deal with an Elder God (or Hollywood producer).

Yeah, I've blocked keywords, but it can't cover everything.

I just started playing Oxygen Not Included (thanks to a sale and a dip in freelance work). I get up to the stage where I ought to start automating and get overwhelmed. Any ONI fans on here who get it?

There are a lot of traditionally-female traits that boys and even men are not being taught; including connection-building, self-regulation and empathy. With women less and less likely to pick up the slack in relationships, it leaves men who are unwilling to learn out in the cold.
"the issue isn’t that we need more 'boy-friendly' reforms. It’s that boys are socialized to compete only with boys and to read girls’ success as illegitimate or emasculating. The result is dissonance, resentment, and disengagement for boys—and hostile climates for girls."

Been v busy and wanted to post about the 10th anniversary of #DoctorWho - Heaven Sent when I read this article that Rachel shared. This episode screened a year after I lost Becky and I found it incredibly insightful about the nature of grief. So much so, I wrote to Steven Moffat about it (1/n)

Bouncing around the internet this morning on a Global Procrastination Tour, I realise that I'm entirely over the preformative purity testing we've fallen into the habit of. It's feels evangelical, dull, and endlessly self-righteous. Bring back having values that you quietly follow in your own way.
