Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

This is a fantastic piece of work from Nick. Well worth a read.
Mohammad Nabi has beaten 46 countries, presumably a record.

Using two of the great websites, Cricket Archive and LinkedIn, I tracked down some of his earliest international opponents - from Italy, Denmark, Jersey, Argentina and Thailand - for a wholesome chat about their memories of a wild time.

I have said this and I will say it until I am blue in the face: none of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan should be playing international cricket right now on political interference grounds. Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe were suspended for way less.

We could start with a global funding model which is absurdly weighted in favour of India, and heavily penalises the smaller Full Members and all the Associates.

". . . this decision is not in the interest of the global game . . ."

There's a ringing phrase from the ICC media release on Pakistan's boycott of the India match in the World T20 Cup.

Shall we make a list of all the ICC's decisions which have not been 'in the interest of the global game'?

Make no mistake, those in charge of the ICC will do everything to ensure any financial hit from this will be avoided by the wealthiest & most powerful boards.

The fallout - beyond taking revenge against PCB & BCB - will likely be felt most by those who can't afford it: associate & women's cricket.
God knows what this means for the future of the game, but a bunch of anonymous suits in non-jobs will be absolutely raging right now, and furiously working out where their next free lunch is coming from.

The funny thing about a certain type of angry conspiracy guy is that they’re literally being confronted with an elite paedophile ring and a tyrannical government at the same time right now, and because it isn't being done by the people they wanted it to be done by they’re all being pussies about it

And people wonder why I don't automatically jump for joy when hearing about yet another franchise league being launched in an associate member nation.

By continuing to allow these farcical tournaments to proliferate with minimal or no scrutiny, the ICC is again failing to act as a proper governing board and is likely to reap more corruption scandals as a result - as well as situations like this where players are left out of pocket.

This is a very me post, but how you can have a list of “Iconic performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup” that ignores that fantastic Dutch win at Lord’s in 2009 or that amazing run chase against Ireland in 2014 is bizarre. www.icc-cricket.com/media-releas...

The latest exhibit in the case against India being allowed to host major international tournaments. This is racism, plain and simple. We shouldn't be afraid to call it that.

I don't exaggerate when I say that Andrew Wakefield should be tried for mass murder. We'll never know how many people have died or will die as a direct result of his fraudulent study.
This is the large domino, with the small domino being some random quack in the UK in 1998 trying to undermine the existing MMR vaccine so his business partner can swoop in with his own. Instead he lost his work credentials and now kids are dying needlessly all over the world, so great job everyone.
Austria loses its WHO status as measles-free, too, together with Armenia, Azerbaijan Uzbekistan and Spain. This comes as no surprise, considering the rise in numbers in recent years and the decline in MMR vaccine coverage

It's easy to dismiss as sepia vision nostalgia and middle aged fogies hankering over their lost youth, but objectively speaking, whilst many things have improved over the past 20 years, probably more things have deteriorated
Sorry but why the fuck would you *not* want to recreate 2006?Pre-financial crash, pre-austerity, pre-Brexit, pre-inflation. Britain's economically healthy, decent public services, largely competent government, fairly amiable political disputes. What kind of person prefers this period to that?
Kemi Badenoch says the Tories are "not trying to recreate 2006" which, to this 38 year old, is a pity

Great to see the Dutch back in a women's World Cup. Up until the ICC took over women's cricket they were one of the top teams in the game and have played a Test match more recently than a World Cup.
Netherlands women's captain Babette de Leede:

"We're one of the few countries with no contracts at all. We're an Associate country, where cricket is very small, but we made sure that everyone bought into this dream, and our dream has come true"

This probably says more about the strength of Ireland than the strength of Italy, but the latter won the men's T20I between the two sides today.
