Despite them taking more self inflicted rakes to the face than Sideshow Bob, this tour has been notably lacking in pious declarations from respected cricket writers, underlining in no uncertain terms that the England men's team haven't earned the right to set foot on the MCG. Odd that.

Anyone who follows BBC sport knows there are still plenty of male presenters.
All this really means - given 'Big Beasts' is a term wholly in the eye of the beholder - is that Simon, though unable to articulate it in a way that doesn't make him seem like a total loser, thinks all the men are crap.

The mind boggling aspect of Meg Lanning's extraordinary record in ODIs, is she suffered a career ruining injury in what should have been her peak years - the period that the likes of Mandhana, Matthews & Wolvaardt have been flourishing in recently - so she could have been even further our in front.
Laura Wolvaardt has now essentially 'caught up' with the point at which Meg Lanning's career started being blighted by injures, so any hundreds she makes in the next year or two will take her into the lead on this stat.

Anyone interested in cricket stats should see women's cricket as a great area to get into, as it's still in the exciting, pioneering stage men's cricket went through a century or so ago - compiling and defining the foundational stats - combined with all the tools of the digital age.
