I do sometimes wonder if there were instructions on the sign up page most of us missed:
"Bluesky is a game where you have to put forth your most mad, yet sincerely held, opinions. The winner will be decided by a combination of the madness of the opinion, and the size of the ratio "
They should lean into the unreality of the timescales of the Bond universe, and make a show called "Young M", with a character indisputably meant to be the same as M, which is set in the 18th Century.

There is a moment in all of Moore's post Moonraker films, where Bond stops and thinks "Was I really in space? No, I can't have been in space. Fuck me, I was, I was in fucking space!"

Before her death, my grandmother always had a photo on display - usually on the mantelpiece or some other prominent spot. It was black and white, somewhat faded, of a young man, Ronald Coleman moustache, in Khaki Drill shirt with a side cap balanced on his head in a manner that defied gravity. 1/?

Youtube decided to show me the "Hell's Granny" sketch from Monty Python, and whilst not their best sketch by far, I feel the line "The whole problem of these senile delinquents lies in their complete rejection of the values of contemporary society" may have a lot of mileage going forward

Looking forward to 2026, when I am sure my feed will be full of opinions about the Paris mayoral elections

Was very proud of my little heritage line at this event - alas I was undergoing some Guards training so wasn't on the platform. Absolutely extraordinary to think the oldest locomotive hauling passengers was Tornado!
For anyone needing a bit of steam railway fix, here's a terrific account of Toronto resident and railway museum volunteer Stephen Gardiner's recent trip to the UK for the "Giants of New-Build Steam" event. The Brits are building new steam locos for preservation. The footplate ride YT vid is great!

Yeah, I know, its a bit of a humble brag to be writing about my second vacation to England in under three months having been over at the start of August for Oasis and The Greatest Gathering. This s…

Judging by the inflated cost of second hand Royal Navy officers number 1 dress uniforms on ebay, I think we can guess what the most tedious Halloween outfit of the year will be

The German company that makes the mechanical ladder used in the Louvre heist has used the image to advertise, with the text 'When you need to move fast'

Looking at todays discourse, noting its a subject with a certain amount of nuance in an area I am completely ignorant of, I have come to the decision that the only position I can possibly hold is that we ought to ban football.

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

If a locomotive is in the original condition it was in when it was in revenue service, and never ran in the preservation era, conservation is the key. Not every steam locomotive should or needs to be returned to running condition. They inevitably become a Ship of Theseus.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

Spending ones time trying to work out a justification as to why an ethnic (or similar) group one doesn't like or otherwise finds inconvenient should not have human rights (or even one specific human right) is it not indicative of an individual with morals.

it’s crazy to think that TRON is still named after Bruce Boxleitner’s character in the first movie, who has not appeared since, rather than Jeff Bridges’ character, who has been in all three. The franchise ought to be called KEVIN

My biblical knowledge isn't the greatest, but I am fairly certain no-one in the Gospels mentions Christ aging 21 years between his death and resurrection.

This, funding "Life of Brian", and writing the best Beatles song are why George Harrison was definitely the best Beatle.
Imagine watching Rutland Weekend Television - Eric Idle's low budget regional broadcasting spoof/surreal music-hall half-hour - on sleepy old BBC2 and Actual Beatle George Fucking Harrison turns up in his Bangladesh Concert suit, plays the intro to My Sweet Lord, and then...
It be Talk Like A Pirate Day so here be Pirate Bob to do his annual thing for ye. Thank you @ericidle.bsky.social for making this happen. ♓🐟💖

In my quest to become immortal, I am trialing spending time with my beautiful wife, enjoying steam engines, and eating pizza.
It may not work, we'll see, but I suspect it will be as successful as this loony's approach.

I live in A, and intend to remain in A for the rest of my life. All the food I eat already comes from shops and restaurants in A.
For the rest of your life, you can only eat food from one of these regions. Which do you choose?

The spikesman's comment made me genuinely laugh out loud.
The “bang bus” owned by adult entertainer Bonnie Blue, visiting Oxford for Freshers’ Week, will not be eligible to pass through the High St bus gate. An Oxfordshire County Council spokesman told the Clarion: “Having taken the risk of googling Bonnie Blue’s Bang Bus, the vehicle appears to be a van.”
