Preorder here: lnk.to/LikeaCatLove...
Please share! The book doing well means I can write another (and fulfil my dream of owning a pizza oven), so it’s pretty serious

This from X is a striking example of what I argue in today’s column. Reform and the Tories are out here gleefully saying disabled people on Motability should be forced to drive a 3-wheeler, like a scarlet letter. The stigma is not an accident - it’s the design.

This is also my explanation for why the far-right grew so fast in Sweden: because they basically promised "social democracy for white people". For very many Swedish people (especially men) this was merely saying a quiet part out loud.
This is the logical endpoint of social democracy (and this case also of the whiteness of the U.S. left) by the way.
What socdems ultimately want is a strong state + capitalist economy with some welfare/redistribution esp. for non-foreigners/non-immigrants

There’s a grim logic that the way this whole thing has played out in relation to the intersection between British foreign and race relations policy, whereby some ‘communities’ are seen as an inevitable threat to each other and it is for the state to decide who gets protected over the other.
