NYCers have earned a day to just feel hopeful and happy. Nobody's in denial about political reality, and tomorrow will be here soon enough, but an inauguration is a celebration and an articulation of a vision, and it's okay to let yourself give in to the joy of aspiration.

I will never get over how much he genuinely loves New York City. (In another bit he shouted out my local pizza shop!!)
Mamdani: Where else can you hear the sound of the steel pan, savor the smell of sancocho, and pay $9 for coffee on the same block? Where else could a Muslim kid like me grow up eating bagels and lox every Sunday?

Watching the various inaugurations in the city today and I swear, 11-ish years ago I barely knew who my federal level reps were; now I'm cheering because our heroic AG just swore in the city comptroller and I know all of these people's names and have strong opinions on them. (Tish and Mark rule.)

The genius bar could not, in fact, fix my problem (battery) but I am now updated to Tahoe, so everything is weird and floaty and I just spent some time verifying that yes, my computer is way too old for weird Apple AI stuff, thankfully.

I have been sitting at the Apple Store’s Genius Bar for two hours, in case you wonder how my day is going. I have not had lunch but a woman next to me is eating cranberries directly out of the bag while having a loud phone call.
