The regime despises poor people, yes. And importantly it does not fear poor people as a political force. It's important to take both of these together to understand what they are doing with SNAP. They do not believe that they will incur lasting political costs for their current actions.

Meta is planning to issue 40-year corporate bonds at a 1.4% premium to U.S. Treasuries to pay for all its AI spending…all as AI has yet to find a consumer use case that can turn a profit.

At what point do investors say “no, thanks”?

Their parties [when they have them] SUCK.

They make bad art.

They aren't funny.

They CRAVE Leftist popular culture & resent the fact that they do.

They aren't actually having fun

That “working class” is a transparently race and gender coded term tells you who pundits view as low and middle income workers and what type of work they believe “counts” among this group.

Reality: the working class is predominantly White women and racial minorities in the low wage service sector.

there was way way more going on in Chicago this last week than I could have anticipated or planned for—I would be heading back from one neighborhood ICE watch on the train and get notifications of an ICE sighting and then a protest and another protest. so many people really have each other.

I'm starting to see multiple threads where bluesky folks are trying to raise money for their local food banks because of the shutdown of SNAP starting November 1... can we get a thread going for people to find each other? Drop your link and put your city in front, let's coordinate city by city!

If you travel around your city using public transit, why not print out copies of Megan's "How to Report ICE" in your city and hand those out? It's a simple way to inform people. drive.google.com/drive/folder... - I distributed some to folks on the bus today and they were all grateful to receive them

Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.
