UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Awful and dangerous to hear the Mayor echo the transphobic bigotry coming from the Trump administration. It's completely at odds with the values of our city and another reason why his single, disgraced term in office cannot end soon enough.

After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel
Trump’s most brazen attack on free speech yet.

The media was eager to turn Kirk's murder into a story about left wing political violence but when that flopped they shifted seamlessly to the "what went wrong with this nice white boy?" angle they do every time a mass shooting or high profile killing occurs. Utterly shameless.

Watching all these centrist pundits stress the “civility” of Charlie Kirk’s style without addressing the ugliness of his substance is giving me a renewed appreciation of how the civil, polite White Citizens’ Councils conned the same crowd into thinking they were distinct from the cruder Klan.

So @wsj.com are you going to apologize for endangering transgender people with your false reporting? Now that “transgender ideology” turned out to be a meme from a video game that had nothing to do with trans people?

Hi @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social, we're friendly, we've been on each other's shows. We both agree Kirk's murder is horrific. Q: was Kirk "practicing politics in exactly the right way" when he called for me to be deported because he didn't like my Covid views on MSNBC?

The memory holing of Charlie Kirk’s fascism and cruelty is astonishing.

As I’ve seen many say, it’s indicative that the networks lionizing him for “debating” can’t actually play clips of him speaking.

On top of that, the credulity of the media is 🤦🏻‍♂️. Shouldn’t we have a journalism of suspicion?

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some
prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.

Charlie Kirk called me a ‘lunatic’ and a ‘prostitute’ and demanded I be deported.

Nothing, *nothing*, justifies killing him, or robbing his kids of their dad.

We don’t know the identity or motive of the shooter but murder can *never* be the response to political disagreements.

They're openly calling to lock up every trans person by force. We need every ally to speak out forcefully against this because trans folks cannot do this on our own.

People need to understand just how openly genocidal the rhetoric on the far right is getting towards transgender people. They're openly talking about eradicating us and forcefully mass institutionalizing all trans people.

These are people with direct ties to the Trump administration.

Few things are more unimportantly infuriating than a person smugly saying something ignorant as though it were common sense.
The fact that some historians insist the Dark Ages didn't actually exist - and this is considered legitimate within the professional community - is a big reason why History doesn't deserve the same respect as, say, medicine or physics.

It's as if lots of medical academics held anti-vax views.

Besides beings full of shit and implicitly revealing racist ideas of “real, uncontrollable” DC residents…

I’m not sure how Stephen Miller can call people old when he’s spent the last 400 years feeding on the blood of the innocent 🧛
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."
