The Midnight Baker Who Bakes at Midnight. She/her (they/m in a pinch), religion: cake. Baked devotionals and other offbeat stuff at feraltomatoes.com. No worries, my existence infuriates me too.
I addressed this when Biden was being poked at and dropped out. He has loved ones. *This* poor guy isn't loved enough by anyone around him for even one of them to truly look out for him. It doesn't help that they're all in the mindset where being loved is overrated, but that excuses nothing.

Trust the 8 bags of crochet WIPs. And I don't mean 8 WIPs each with their own bag either.
how can i trust that you have adhd if you don’t have 7 beverages open simultaneously

Awwww crud! I remember playing "Alright Guy" for the guy that either was or would be my BF and him not understanding that the whole thing was meant as humor, not a real defense of his actual self. I mean, unless it was? Either way I'm sad he's gone.
"Country music star Todd Snider, known for his alt-country hits like Alright Guy and Just Like Old Times, has died following a battle with a mysterious illness. He was 59."

I remember saying this in the old place, apropos of an article on emotional impact of words (short ones have more) vs precision (longer can be better). Good to see it coming around again.
I’ve always found it interesting how much microblogging character limits streamline language use. No room for weasel words, purple prose, digression.

But I think it’s also part of how extremism ramps up.

Because neither is there room for nuance, citation, qualifiers, any softening or mitigation.

"Our actions are working, and they are not enough.
Nothing we do is sufficient, and everything we do matters.
We must be strategic, and we must operate on multiple fronts simultaneously.
Time is of the essence, and we have to act for the long haul.
This is how change happens." Dan Berger

Either there begins, within the next couple weeks, a serious discourse on whether using "baby" and "girlfriend/boyfriend" as terms of endearment primes English speakers for Bad Things, or we step carefully around it and don't talk about it at all.

Krusteaz hack: 1c water, soak 1/2 c quick oats and a handful of craisins while the pan heats. Mix in 3 oz canned pumpkin, 1/2 t FAKE vanilla, & 1 t pumpkin pie spice, then 1c plain pancake mix. Adjust to medium schlurpy if necessary. Great with maple syrup.

Pedestrians too. I've taken to going the exact wrong way just to get people to turn/go and leave me alone.
Drivers: I know you think you’re doing cyclists a favour by stopping & waving us through an intersection while you’ve got right of way, but you really aren’t. You’re being unpredictable and screwing up the flow of traffic for everyone and just causing further delays for us to safely cross. Stop it.

I keep telling this story.

Imagine a vast orchard, bequeathed to the Boomers by their parents.

They spend their working lives tending it, growing it, selling the apples and cider. They show it to their kids, and they say, "It'll be up to you to keep this going when I retire."

Talk about robbing the future from a generation.
The median age of all U.S. homebuyers is now 59 years old.

Just 15 years ago, it was 39 years old.

So the dude and I now write parodies together, apparently. He'll tell you he didn't do much but without his line I wouldn't have had a cohesive whole. Maybe I'll eventually figure out the best platform to share a recording. (Maybe we'll eventually record it!)

Don't bother making borani kadoo out of acorn squash. Even if the recipe says "any orange winter squash." It's way too much trouble and you'll be spitting out gross little hard bits through the entire meal.

Tastes good though.

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

About the only bad quality ebikes have is allowing your kid to zoom off in a huff when you ask them to, say, clean their room, and end up far enough away (with a dead battery) that someone has to go get them.

We've stopped going to get them in that circumstance.

So today I have frogged essentially an ENTIRE project, heard a song from 1988 that basically describes my mom life, had my guitar lesson cancelled, and forgotten to wake up the teenager before noon. In case anybody needed some mundane stuff to balance out their day.

Here's how far I'd got.

Do I need to explain to Congress in an excruciating, profanity-laced momologue how I know that buying your screaming toddler the toy because they've started biting strangers is EXACTLY the same to them as if you bought it in the first ten seconds of whining?

YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO CREATE THE TORMENT NEXUS
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more

I know how my characters would be responding to this. Makes me wonder if anyone is organizing along similar lines. If so, keep facing the wall, y'all.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.
