This post could also be about Canada.
2. As anyone who spends 5 minutes on US roads can tell you, distracted driving has been functionally decriminalized.

Compare with France where you can lose your license for 6 months, the UK where automated camera enforcement is widespread, or Japan where you can go to prison for 6 months!

Rather than just reporting on what the police told you, how about doing some journalism and start pushing local government for why these tragedies are still happening when there are tools available to prevent them?

Well this is some bullshit. No advice at all targeted toward the real problem: drivers. #sameasiteverwas
Intersection safety starts with all of us.🚦
Last year, 15 pedestrians lost their lives on our streets. This number must go down.
January is Intersection Safety Month. This student-created video reminds us to slow down, put phones away, and stay cautious at intersections.

My city @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social promised to adopt #VisionZero but people are still being killed by motorists. At what point do we start holding our elected officials and city engineers to account for not doing anything to protect people outside of cars?

Rewatching Brittania on CBC Gem and absolutely delighted by the theme music, though not what you expect for a film about Roman Britain…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHxfOZH8cew

@cityofnorthvan.bsky.social how many more people have to be killed in our city before you start taking safe street design implementation seriously? This is on you and your engineering department. Our mayor uttered #VisionZero once. Where are we with that?! www.nsnews.com/local-news/p...

Can we get one of these for cyclists who insist on using 10billion candlepower bike lights aimed into the eyes of oncoming traffic because, "I want to be sure I'm seen"?

A pro active transport mayor and council @cityofnorthvan.bsky.social keep telling me providing a complete network is complicated and takes time and careful consideration so as not to upset the drivers. Meanwhile other communities are pushing forward and getting it done, leaving us in the dust.
It's been wonderful to see seniors, parents with toddlers, people on electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters, and others using the protected bike and roll network. The network helps them feel safer and be safer. More network improvements are coming in Victoria and the CRD!

“An isolated bike lane is a toy; a useful network of bike and roll lanes is core infrastructure.”

I love this commentary on how empowering it is to have choices in your community. It’s also invigorating to know many communities in the region are contributing to a useful network of transportation ♥️

So tired of people I’ve nothing in common with following me because they are trying to sell a novel or new album. No, I don’t read fan fiction and don’t listen to bad country music. I wish for an option to remove followers, rather than resorting to blocking them.
