Today's Canadian corporate leader who deserves our attention is Thrifty's Foods (& Sobeys) owned by Empire Foods. As we Canadians seek to buy Canadian they've decided to label produce "Mexican or USA" which, in a word is immoral and BS. Tell your local manager, speak up.

As Dutch cities continue to grow, space is being reallocated to walking, cycling and public transport. Across the Netherlands, the role of the private car is being reconsidered. New blog post and video.
When Space Runs Out: Rethinking the Role of the Car in Dutch Cities
Dutch cities are changing rapidly. One of the aims of this blog is to document that change, and there is plenty of work ahead. Much of what I record involves changes to streets: a before-and-after of a reconstructed street is relatively easy to capture in images. Shiny new cycling bridges can steal the show, and a new continuous-cycle route perhaps even more so.

When a police chief says ICE are a bunch of racist yobs you can be sure ICE members are indeed a bunch of racist yobs acting on orders that are based on racism.
Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color... it has to stop"

Justin we love you but as a chart enthusiast you're too smart to post charts with arbitrary start points and linear trendlines. Here's a couple we made, with the same data, that shows traffic fatalities are on the rise!

But onto a more serious analysis of this 🧵

Lots going on right now, but this is worth repeating: the planet will keep heating up and the climate will keep breaking down until we phase out fossil fuels.

We should all want to phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible, I think!
2025 global climate highlights are out:
🌡️ 2025 was 3rd warmest year on record, 1.47ºC above the preindustrial level
📈 2023-2025 is the first three year period above 1.5ºC (according to ERA5)
🌍 The last 11 years have been the warmest 11 years on record

If Trump, Noem and and rest of them will lie this blatantly, ridiculously, about something we’ve clearly seen with our own eyes, then we KNOW they’re lying about everything.

Everything.

Never forget, they think we’re “suckers and losers.”

Are they right?
WATCH: Its hard to laugh at what’s happening in the United States, but maybe some laughter mixed with the devastating truth is how we can keep paying attention — and we NEED to pay attention — without losing our minds.

The most batshit part of this is how COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS the lies have been.

Kudos to @timescolonist.bsky.social for covering a vehicle crash and providing agency linking the driver to the vehicle. Example today:
"Victoria police said a pedestrian was struck by the driver of a septic truck near the intersection of Douglas and Chatham streets early Friday afternoon."

One of the most annoying policy decisions of governments who believe they are being environmentally progressive. Tax dollars for more cars is ludicrous.
$200M would buy 135k car-replacing electric bicycles

instead it will subsidize 26,600 high embodied carbon SUVs
Newsom's budget includes $200M to make up for Trump's canceled EV rebates, among other climate items
