I mean if he just consistently shits in his own breakfast who am I to argue whether or not people will remember sen dems caving by midterms
Oh look Dear Leader has decided to toy with destroying the ATC system anyway, by choice, and right before the midterms.
The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

This. Theres so much cope on here this morning about how this was always going to happen, we got small wins, etc. We funded the govt for 2 months for “concessions” that were just rollbacks of petty shutdown retribution, while they were bleeding support, and we ensured next time will be worse for us.
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

All this said, we need to reshuffle the senate right now. Like today. We have to show that cowardice is punished.
In the end, dems are in the minority and they lack any real power except enabling whatever pain GOP inflict on the Am people. If this were all hypothetical I’d want them to hold strong but the republicans are willing to let Americans starve to death. I don’t know how long you can counter that.
I currently have people suggesting that I defend starving millions of Americans until 2029 because I don’t believe democrats should further enable republicans in starving millions of people while also denying them healthcare and funding secret police pogroms in our cities. It’s somehow real.

If Dems want to regain any semblance of respectability they need to throw Schumer overboard. We need a major reshuffle.

While you were freaking out on social media about the shutdown, Trump was booed by normies. Just blame everything on him. That's all you need to do.
#GVerse #BreakingNews #Shit4Brains was just viciously BOOED at the Washington Commanders - Detroit Lions game.
Incredible, Holy Cow!

These are *not* concessions on the part of republicans. If you treat them as such, you’ve incentivized them to weaponize the federal workforce to the maximum degree in every single future fight. I feel like I’m losing my fucking mind.

don't even know what to say because my thinking six weeks ago was "the ACA subsidies are a bad negotiating move because it's too easy for republicans to agree to that, it's not asking enough" & now here they are ready to destroy the country to prevent people from being able to afford their premiums

It’s only a defeat if we call it one.
i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

I still hate them all and think they make us look weak, just for the record.

Republicans are the reason we are here. Republicans are the enemy here. The media is in the bag for Trump. I will vote Dems all the way down the ticket but that said Tim Kaine and his friends really know how to drop a fucking box of anvils on collective hope.

Someone just asked me "but is political gain (vs Trump) worth seismic political risk?"
Allowing Trump to function as a lawless dictator without any pushback from Congress IS the seismic political risk here.

Democrats have to stop bailing out Republicans from facing the consequences of their own policies. And yeah, that means they have to stop sparing voters from experiencing what GOP government truly means.
Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
Every time Dems step in, it only emboldens the GOP & they make it even worse the next time.
So Democrats get:
1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays
2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail
3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts
Those all seem like wins for the GOP.
