There are times in this profession that invoke just a little bit of joy at little things. Today is one of these tiny moments, when I receive proofs of my entry translated into... Turkish. Now I know that one could describe tribunus stabuli as "Saray ve Ordu İçin At Tedarikinden Sorumlu Görevli" 😉.

When Putin talks to a Russians he consistently says that they invade Ukraine to destroy the state and nation and correct the path of history. NATO and similar framings are just for the useful foreigners.

I don't buy it. I do believe that Russia made a deliberate intelligence leak about something like that to scare the Americans, and it worked. It's also a convenient story for the US establishment, btw, because it justifies a strategy that turned out to be a failure.
