Some key points from this excellent short piece by @jeffkopstein.bsky.social & Hanson:

1. This is a patrimonial regime that is undoing modern statehood.
2. Gaffes, dementia, inconsistencies, and the courts won't stop it. Some of these actually bolster it.

Trump is transforming the constitutional republic into a patrimonial regime before our eyes.

Minneapolis is trying out new forms of resistance. They're doing pop-up blockade block parties. This one is on Cedar and 34th, a main route into the city. They have a stereo, food & a fire. MPD is present but not interfering. Lots of honks of support. ICE agents have been reported detouring around.

Wow, buckle up.

The early vote just came in Tarrant County, and Democrat Taylor Rehmet is up 56% to 44% in the special election for a Texas state Senate seat.

This is a seat that went for Trump by 17%. This would be a huge upset.

This is already 45K votes.

I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

Good time to look back at what this war is truly about: destroying Ukrainian sovereignty, restoring Russian "greatness," and recolonizing much of the world.
