The aesthetic difference between military and police really comes down to the fact that the military actively looks for chances to downgrade and not wear as much equipment while the police have never met an item of gear that they didn't want to wear all the time

I feel this a lot these days when I see people angry that other folks are not focused on the same atrocity they are, with the same intensity they are. I regret to say there's more than one genuine atrocity in the world at the moment; it doesn't minimize the others if one chooses another to focus on.

The explosion of AI imagery online has had an odd side effect for me: it's made me so much happier to see amateur art.
I love seeing art from people at various stages of experience, even when things are rough and folks are just starting out.

Even if Duolingo is helping you as it once did me, deleting your account is the only correct move right now. The company posted record profits, but capitalist greed means they're killing jobs, lowering quality, and will be creating an increasingly inferior experience for increasingly higher prices.
I have completely deleted my Duolingo. I was informed by one of my kids that the company has removed most of its employees and 70% of the company is run by AI.
