I never thought I'd agree with the idea that Dick Cheney would be a significant upgrade.

But here we are.
The fact that he can’t seize this moment to become president through back room intrigue really speaks to all the different ways that JD Vance is the biggest piece of shit in the country. Dick Cheney gets this one done before the day’s over.

I have just completed a task that I've been actively procrastinating for two months. As in "stepping over boxes in my living room rather than do it" avoidance.

It took me 35 minutes to complete. Sigh.

15 channels with 500 people each is 7,500.

Astonishing numbers.
We have ~15 separate radio dispatches, one for each neighborhood, and dozens more for the suburbs/Saint Paul. Each dispatch/monitoring channel contains somewhere between 500 and 2000 people. At any given time there are probably a dozen mobile patrols and 100 on-foot observers in each neighborhood.
Does Minneapolis have a radio dispatch set up for the people who are following ICE? That's brilliant.

It's interesting how perfect Bovino is for the role he's playing - right out of central casting for a fascist police officer.

For an administration obsessed with appearances, it's definitely a choice.
Greg Bovino was seen earlier today at the Minneapolis ICE facility dressed in a very nazi-inspired outfit. They don’t even hide anymore.

I still have my Christmas tree up and that's okay because my neighbors across the street still have theirs too.

Note that other countries don't necessarily do this. Here in Canada, "territories" have a similarly low population compared to our provinces, but they're still given full voting rights. Our difference is that territories are more heavily federally administered instead of having provincial rights.

One of the most fundamental problems for dealing w/ ICE is the GOP provided years of ICE agent funding in the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

No govt shutdown will end that funding stream, and there aren’t 2/3s votes in each chamber to rescind the funding & override a veto.

Means resistance is what we have.

Oh no. This makes me so incredibly sad.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

Regarding today’s shooting in Minneapolis, recall that in mid-October a federal agent shot and almost killed D.C. driver Phillip Brown under similar circumstances. The agent claimed Brown was driving towards him as he tried to flee from a police stop.

I don't believe I've ever heard the US referred to as a "predator force".
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"

Just a reminder that George Conway is not fundraising right now to run against a MAGA republican.

He is fundraising to run against progressive Democrats.

A small bit of good news.
Fountain repairs across DC are a victory of locals “who have long lamented the neglected public spaces but have been unable to fix them because they are owned and controlled by the federal government.”

Why didn't you go to the Kennedy Center? Over 2 million people go to the Kennedy Center annusl with over 2,000 performanes - from the NSO and WNO, to jazz, chamber music, theater, musicals, and film.

Over 400 performances and events are free. There really is no excuse to have not checked it out.
also who goes to the Kennedy center
This is not hard. Artists are not responsible for ensuring the Kennedy Center remains relevant and successful. The center’s board is responsible for that, in a fiduciary way. All of this energy being directed at artists should be re-directed at the board.

Reconstruction implies going back to something we once had. And, I would suggest we should be aiming to be better than that.

Yes, much needs to be done. No, our past isn't the way forward.
"We are going to win against Donald Trump, but we have a much bigger victory that we need to be aiming for. We need to Reconstruct this country. We must put liberal democracy on the right footing to face the challenges of the era we live in."
“We are going to win. But it is going to hurt. The president can do a great deal of harm to our institutions and to innocent people, even in the absence of public or elite support.” www.liberalcurrents.com/we-are-going...
