Now in #Science #Immunology: Philips, O'Shea, &al. made mice w human pathogenic #STAT1 activating mutation. Mice had #IFNg -dependent #autoimmunity, but their innatelike lymphocytes produced suboptimal IFNg during viral infection. Exogenous IFNg🚫virus-induced lethality, suggesting possible therapy!

Stat1 gain-of-function mice fail to resolve inflammation in viral infection because of insufficient early STAT4–IFN-γ responses.
