I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

“I Lost Everything”: Venezuelans Were Rounded Up in a Dramatic Midnight Raid but Never Charged With a Crime
Authorities said Tren de Aragua “terrorists” had taken over the building. A ProPublica investigation found little evidence to back up the government’s claims. For the first time, the Venezuelans arres...

Because once we get rid of Trump, we need to have laid the groundwork for reversing this, for saying, "remember when we could have nice things? Well, the way to get that back quickly is to fire the kidnappers and rehire the cancer scientists."

Congrats everyone. I’m pretty sure this is 1000th version of “the White House is scared” stories we’ve read!
Dread is creeping into the White House as the Epstein story returns during the weakest moment of Trump’s second term, @JonLemire.bsky.social reports.
Epstein Returns at the Worst Time for Trump
The president is desperate to make the questions go away, but there is no sign they will.

Good job @npr.org to refer to him as “sex offender” not “financier”

Earnest post: there is increasingly direct evidence that Trump participated in child sex trafficking or at least knew about it.

He should resign, be impeached and removed from office, and prosecuted.

Even if you don’t think that WILL happen it’s important to say publicly that it SHOULD happen.

People causing harm are assumed to be objective. Victims, obviously, are biased. (So goes the thinking)
An analysis of news pieces about Trump’s anti-trans decrees found that “70 percent did not include a quote from a single trans person. Instead, journalists turned to cisgender sources — mostly government officials — to speak about trans people, their lives, and how they would be affected.”
NEW: Firings of LGBTQ staff at NBC and Condé Nast have worsened an already dire picture for legacy news media when it comes to covering the trans community.

From @billiejsweeney.bsky.social, a close look at our increasingly degraded media environment.

The past few days haven’t been filled with stories of people struggling because of Trump policies, and GOP people doing increasingly unpopular things.

Almost like something changed around Sunday night.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

I'm much more concerned about this sort of thing than the economic policies of NYC's mayor.
Anyone who tells you that Candace Owens is not antisemitic in the worst way is either supremely ignorant or lying.
There’s no daylight between what Candace says here about “the Jews” & what Nazi propagandists & Father Coughlin said about the Jews in the 1930s. Her show is one of the top 5 “conservative” podcasts in the US. She has 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 7.3 million followers on X.

Chicagoans never stop. I was just watching a live stream of a press conference held by community members in front of FBI headquarters. In the rain in the dark. Umbrellas at hand they are calling for the release of 6 people taken by ICE, 3 also arrested by CPD. They never stop fighting.

Yeah, I still think it's important to note when people are TRYING to cement a fascist state, rather than wait until it's done to make an Official Declaration.
Look, I know I poke the kids about fascism, but in a fascist state, you don't get charged with a felony about a sandwich and then walk out when a jury - and the nation - laughs at the prosecutors.
