In October, a supercell thunderstorm hit Tempe, AZ, displacing over 130 people, causing damage to 70+ businesses, and leaving 34,000 customers without power. 2025 was a crazy year of extreme weather, and climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of these events. #2025inExtremeWeather

This fall we saw devastating floods hit Alaska, displacing 1500 people and destroying 200+ homes. AK’s native populations are at increased risk from flooding due to climate change, and it's critical we take climate action to protect these communities from further destruction. #2025inExtremeWeather

From extreme heat and wildfires to severe rain and floods, Arizona has seen its fair share of extreme weather. In September, flooding in Globe caused 4 deaths and damage to 59 businesses and 150 homes. Climate change is intensifying these storms, leading to more destruction. #2025inExtremeWeather

In August, historic flash floods hit Chattanooga Tennessee, leading to 3 deaths and putting 6+ million people under flood watch. Because of climate change, rare disasters have now become common occurrences. It's critical we take climate action to protect our communities in the future.

Extreme heat is the most dangerous form of extreme weather, and Arizona has faced some of the worst. In August, Phoenix broke a daily heat record at 118 degrees. We need urgent climate action to protect our communities from these deadly milestones. #2025inExtremeWeather

In July, a megafire engulfed the Grand Canyon spreading rapidly due to low humidity and strong winds, destroying over 70 structures including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge. Climate change is driving hotter, drier summers and increasing conditions that spread wildfires. #2025inExtremeWeather

For centuries, Santa Claus has delivered lumps of coal to people on the Naughty List. 🎅

But what happens when coal is exactly what someone, say Donald Trump, wants?

This year, Santa needs to give Trump (and the rest of us) something he’ll really hate: clean energy.
Santa’s coal, Trump, and your high energy bills: The surprising link
The Trump admin is on the naughty list. Santa may give them just what they want: more coal. Here's why that means higher energy prices and dirtier air for the rest of us.

The Central Texas flooding was some of the most devastating extreme weather we saw this year, causing 135 total deaths, including 37 children and $1.1 B in damages. In Texas, storms are now 7% wetter because of climate change. We need urgent climate action to prevent future disasters like this.

Earlier this year, Ruidoso, NM suffered from monsoon rains and record flash flooding that led to 3 deaths and 65 people needing rescue. The area was made more vulnerable by wildfire damage and burn scares from the year before, as burned soil repels water causing more flooding and significant damage.

The Trump admin's decision to dismantle this facility that provides us with critical climate research as extreme weather worsens will only hurt our ability to respond to future disasters - including strong winds that left Colorado without power last week.

In June, torrential rain caused flash flooding in West Virginia, causing 9 deaths and damage to over 100 homes. The state is already vulnerable to flooding, but climate change is driving conditions that cause more intense and frequent downpours. #2025inExtremeWeather

Earlier this year, Pennsylvania saw severe thunderstorms that led to 4 deaths, power outages in 400,000+ homes, and significant destruction. Climate change is driving heavier rain and storms—in PA and the northeast heavy rainstorms drop 60% more rain than they did in the 1950s.
